Karan, Arjun, and Rutvik, although having similar family backgrounds, have their independent views about life. This philosophical saga tries to explore why even if two people have the same environment they cannot think alike. These three kids grow up and chase their ambitions while disregarding everything in their lives.
The contrast in their approaches and what influences them to develop certain mindsets create a tale that influences readers to question their own understanding of the world.
This book is a philosophical breakthrough and explains a possibility in which there is no God but only souls. Vikram Suryawanshi through this book ends the debate between Atheists and Believers. The book talks about these philosophies while Ganesha, a son of God tries to understand human society. Ganesha, because he was disappointed by how humans are leading their lives, wants to change the world and lead humans towards a better future.
The contrast between the story of Ganesha and three humane characters, Karan, Arjun, and Rutvik, raises numerous questions and the author tries to explain all of them through his beautiful story writing skills.
There are some short stories in the Novel. Each focuses on a certain social issue. Through these short stories, Ganesha tries to understand human psychology and how they react in different situations. Having a strong take on various social issues, A Man with A White Shadow gives a fresh perspective on equality.
The writing is so genuine with very much realistic plot focusing on family and life in general.
I appreciate the manner in which the author has presented the characters in such a way that everyone from the young readers to avid readers can easily read and enjoy the book, learn amazing life lessons from the interactions and reactions between the characters, the family dynamics and the realistic portrayal of how life can be really unpredictable.
This is the story of three very realistic characters Arjun, Rutvik and Karan who have different backgrounds, interests and goals.
Every Indian will find the characters, their representation, the scenarios they are in and the issues they're facing to be totally relatable. I wonder how the author has captured these all exactly as how they are in real. I can't believe this is a debut novel! This is the genuineness in the writing I was raving about in the first place! Keep it up, dear author. I miss the genuineness in the writing and character portrayal in new book releases.
These boys trying to make it big leaving behind their humble backgrounds, trying to keep up with the fast paced world, a cutthroat competitive society and all they wanted was to make the world a better place, lessen the pain and the burden of the society. I can see these parts will leave a lasting impact on the readers. Kudos to the writing focusing on this part as well.
The novel is a very thought provoking read. You will come across dialogues between the characters with discussions on what's right and what's wrong mentioning some of the most important topics the youngsters would face and how different people would react to different hardships they would face in their future lives.
Trigger warning for suicide.
The book is a very important read for the youngsters as well as for the guardians to help understand the younger generation more, the hardships they're facing and the possible ways they're struggling through everyday.
Thank you for such a good story with good character representation. A must read for all.
"It is easier for humans to accept their own fates than accepting the fates of their loved ones."
What a lovely narration of the story! I had not read such an engaging philosophical book in a long time. There are different layers in the story. It starts off with a simple storyline but as you go further it shows how some simple things bring drastic change. I liked the way both Karan's and Arjun's life turned out. This book discusses some critical issues such as discrimination, humanity, responsibility, etc. The character development is done fantastically. This book kept me hooked from start to end. Definitely a page-turner. The best part is multiple perspectives. The author has tried to explain every tiny scenario from more than one perspective, which helps to broaden our observations. I truly had a lovely time reading this one! Kudos to the author on his first book.
The book covers two stories in parallel, one is the conversation between Ganesha, Karthikeya and Brahaspati which is philosophical about human life and how their worlds evolve whilst the other story is about three friends Karan, Arjun and Rutvik.
If anyone of you has read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom then you find this book pretty interesting, not that this book bears any resemblance with the latter but yes it does provide life lessons or as mentioned in the book pearls of wisdom. I was provided a copy by the author to share my thoughts about this book and I must say it's one of the best books that I have received so far to share my views about it. I highly recommend this book to one and all as it speaks in simple English language and the story engages you and makes you think about alot of aspects in life that we usually don't throw out attention towards.
I usually read classic novels that are highly rated, because I know they will be good. But I wanted some change and read a couple of newly published books just to see what fresh books by new writers actually look like. To my surprise, I am very impressed by this novel and I strongly recommend this to everyone. The ambitious approach of this book, to portray everything we know of in a new way forces us to question our perspective. I knew that there are infinite ways to look at everything, but this book has motivated me to push my thinking and understanding of this world as well.
A Man With A White Shadow starts with Lord Ganesha expressing his wishes to visit Earth and walk among humans. The purpose of this deity’s visit would not only be to understand humanity, but also to eradicate human suffering, to show them the path. However, the Lord does not know how to go about it. Therefore, he goes to his brother Lord Kartik for advice, and the discussion they have is narrated along with the story of three brothers on Earth.
“Living a life without an aim is the only way to live happily, for we are never completely happy until we achieve our ambition, and become completely clueless if we achieve it.”
The first lines set the tone for what is to follow. What does come next is a story alternating between three interconnected mortal lives with the working of immortals in between. If Gods cannot understand humans, then it is quite natural for us mere mortals to doubt ourselves at times. Karan and Arjun are twins, but they could not have been any more different from each other. The other person is Rutvik, their cousin. All three have had a humble beginning. Hailing from the remote village of Durgad, their parents did their best to get the children exposed to how the world works. The reader gets to go through three different perspectives. Arjun’s aim to grow financially on the professional front, Karan’s decision to remove himself from the shadow of his younger brother and choose a life of service to the underprivileged, and Rutvik’s worldview of going with the flow, to live completely, to one’s heart’s content the few days we have on this planet.
What I found the most interesting about the narrative, was working out the nuances that link the two realms. Everything is interconnected, and life comes a full circle. The author did an excellent job of using each character to bring forward societal issues that need to be addressed. The ever-increasing gap between the rich and the poor, the unequal distribution of resources that result in further widening of the gap, and the overall ignorance of the general public regarding these problems find mention through Karan's character.
The story progresses through multiple timelines. In doing so, it reflects the character development of the protagonists, along with the deteriorating condition of the planet. That being said, this book is character-driven rather than plot-driven. The language used is beginner-friendly and does not take attention away from the story.
The book is reflective and would appeal to readers accordingly.
The characters are well written and their portrayal is absolutely clear. There are lots of amazing parables, each touching a different aspect of life- family, romance, friendships, social construct, ambitions, suffering etc. Development of characters in the context of the plot is quite riveting as well. Time flies when you read such a brilliant piece of art. Unputdownable!
Paperback, Pages: 221, Price: 240/- Published by Readers Meet
⭐ Rating: 4.8/5
The story revolves around Karan who visions to help the needy, Arjun who is ambitious, and Rutvik who seeks pleasure in weed and nature. This book tells the tale of events that fashioned their paths and the influence of their aspirations on their own lives and those around them. This tale uncovers numerous mysteries of their lives and puts forward new ones.
The author has done an amazing job with this novel. I loved the philosophies introduced in this book. And also the Conversations of Kartik, Ganesha, and Brahaspati, sharing their experiences of when they took birth in human form. And how Arjun, Karan, and Rutvik's life transformed.
The book also showed a glimpse of the bitter truth. Karan was left-handed and due to certain believes in society, he was forced to be right-handed, also he was always compared with his brother. It affected his mental state which ended up changing him a lot as a person, distressed his growth, and whatnot.
Society and especially families need to understand that every child is different and therefore should not be compared otherwise it hinders the child's growth and mental wellbeing. ______________________________________________
The language of the book is lucid and comprehensive. If you love reading philosophies, you are going to love this book. Although there were a few grammatical errors here and there. But the story and philosophies make up for all of it. Also, the errors have been rectified in the new copies.
So don't forget to check it out. Highly Recommended!!
“Nobody admits but everyone wants to talk and spend time with the people who look good, talk good & act good, more than the people who work good, think good & aim good, it is this dilemma that forces everyone to question the true nature of humans.” ✨
Two parallel stories, one is lord Ganesha’s and another is two twins’: Karan and Arjun with their cousin Rutvik. The book starts with a chapter of lord Ganesha where God asks him whether he wants to visit the earth, understand God’s creatures, humans, and eradicate their sufferings. Ganesha agrees and proceeds to his visit on the earth.
On the other hand, Karan, Arjun, and Rutvik hail from a remote village called Durgad and explore themselves in cities for education. With Arjun being more famous than Karan between the twins, Karan is overshadowed by Arjun. This increases the closeness between Karan and Rutvik. With the three distinct life objectives of these three people, the author tries to connect the two stories and convey different philosophies at this intersection.
At this intersection, the thought by the author that struck my mind is “You can surely write something that has never been written, but you can not hope to write philosophies that will live forever, because humans themselves are changing.” We are changing at every moment and so are our philosophies and I think this is the correct way to evolve as humans on this planet because change is the only constant. But sometimes, we need to ponder upon these changes and accordingly choose what’s right for humankind.
The way the author has connected two worlds and brought up societal issues such as inequality, caste-based discrimination, jealousy between siblings, etc. to the attention of readers is unmatchable and appreciable. Driven by characters specifically, the narration is really good and the flowy and simple language enhances the reading experience further. The cover is so good and eye-catching. 😍
“Living a life without an aim is the only way to live happily, for we are never completely happy until we achieve our ambition, and become completely clueless if we achieve it.”
A Truly Reflective Read! I would recommend it to all because such books are important for humanity.🙌
___ A MAN WITH A WHITE SHADOW by Vikram Suryawanshi @readersmeet
Genre: #fantasy 195 pages ___ Blurb: The novel, A Man with A White Shadow, written by Vikram Suryawanshi is a philosophical fiction touching various aspects of life and society. The story revolves around one of the sons of God, Ganesha, who, for the first time visits the Earth and gets disappointed with how humans lead their lives. He promises God that he will change the world and decides to take birth in a form of a human. The author introduces a new philosophy through the book, through which he discusses the possibility that every person has written his/her own destiny. Through the eyes that this book presents to the readers, Vikram tries to settle the disputes that arise in the debate between two popular philosophies –
#qotd🌸 your view;
📍Man is alone and there is no God
📍God has created everything and has set path for every human
Having this third philosophy as the basis, the book successfully keeps every reader hooked till the last page. There runs a parallel storyline about three friends who have completely distinct approaches towards life. Contrasting lives of these friends, Karan, Arjun, and Rutvik add multiple levels to the book that makes it an unforgettable read. A Man with A White Shadow is a perfect read for those who want to read something fresh. ___ This was a very philosophical read for me. The beginning feels like mythological fiction & is very interesting. A very innovative 💡 concept to weave a story around the various beliefs & questions of the human mind. Capitalism/ competition/ money/ selfishness seemed to be the main idea behind the hunger, grief & trouble in the world. The author has very creatively weaved his thoughts, approach, beliefs in the form of a story.. When we are happy or powerful, we enjoy that phase but when we don't get what we want, we keep on blaming others for our misery. Why are the rich getting richer & the poor getting poorer? Why was he born with a silver spoon while I had to struggle to meet my ends? These are some of the questions which will trouble the human mind forever. Each human is unique & different.

'A Man with a white shadow' my favourite novel in the recent past, the book that got me back to reading after a really long time The writer takes the reader through every explanation of the very tiniest bits that matter to him. It definitely caters to your taste if you are an ardent fiction lover. Vikram has done a very good job at writing it, so much so that it stays with you. It's nothing like the regular books markets are flooded with. Impactful writing, almost feels like a social responsibility to share this book with my friends. It's that good !
Wishing you luck for more such novels Vikram This one's a must buy !!!
An impressive read from start to finish. A simple story with different layers attached to it. You are never sure what to expect from the journey. Discussing various larger issues about life, society, and humanity among other things, it never makes you feel bored. It keeps you hooked and glued to the pages all the time. Very happy with the inspiring debut from a promising young author. Will be waiting for what he does next. Five out of five.
A fresh read all the way. An amazing work done by the Author Vikram Suryawanshi.
I must say you cannot stop reading when you start once. Every single paragraph and story every plot is so interesting and intriguing.
Karan and Arjun are twins and Rutvik is their cousin brother. Their characters actually are different and distinct from one another.
The book mainly focuses on the second part, which shows very important aspects of one's life such as family, emotions, values etc. The book is written nicely with the situation and incidents that were quite interesting to read. The philosophical facts are fascinating.
We fell in with these facts. The book is great dealing with many elements and allowing the chance for readers to explore so much only through the pages of the book.it is very insightful as the author has included a lot of different things in this one.
This is a great fiction. Character developments of major characters are just commendable. This is a philosophical book and philosophies are groundbreaking, but what I enjoyed most is the storyline of the book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves fiction.
“Living a life without an aim is the only way to live happily, for we are never completely happy until we achieve our ambition, and become completely clueless if we achieve it.”
A Man with a White Shadow by Vikram Suryawanshi is contemporary fiction with philosophical underpinnings. It starts with Lord Ganesha expressing his desire to land on Earth and eradicate all the wrong and negativity prevalent on the planet. On other hand, we see three boys born around the same time - twins Karan and Arjun, and their friend, Rutwik.
This story alternates between the two worlds and majorly focuses on how the three men go about living their lives. Their choices fashion their path, their aspirations influence their lives as well as those of others. It is interesting to see how over time, their thoughts change and shape each others' perspectives as well.
While I thought it might be a regular story set around friendships, family values, and relationships, it was a lot more interesting. What makes it fascinating is how philosophy slips in between the evolution of characters and sheds light on some important topics such as discrimination, humanity, aspirations, life's purpose, etc.
I was quite impressed with some enlightening ideas that left me thinking hard. At certain points, I had no choice but to stop reading and reflect on things. That's how wonderfully the story is woven and narrated. It was a thoroughly immersive experience for me to read A man with a White Shadow.
While dealing with a widely known complex subject, philosophy, the author has masterfully chosen an easy writing style to better connect with readers. While the three main characters get enough room to present themselves, I did feel some were left behind abruptly.
Each bit of the story, be it characters or their changing nature or their environment, everything comes up naturally in the due course of the book. This being the author's debut novel fairs well in terms of narrative, world-building and theme.
Certainly recommended to those interested in philosophy and are just beginners to venture in that area.
I never knew this book is about discrimination. I started it because I heard it has a very good storyline. But the author has displayed a very strong take against various types of discriminations present in the society. After reading it, I feel like it's my responsibility to recommend this to my friends and everyone who wants to know more about our society.
Honestly I got bored of love stories and similar storylines in all the novels that are getting published nowadays. This book in true sense has a good story and something new to read. I recommend this to everyone like me who don't understand what to read next because of repetitive concepts in every second novel we pick. Definately a must read!
✍I´m probably the latest person to read this book, and why did I not read it sooner?! Vikram is so good at talking about some emotional subjects, like brotherhood, family, love and relationships. His words are like a beautiful melody and a profound reflection of what matters in life. This is one of the books to let you think long before you finish it.
✍The circumnavigate among three brothers, Karan, Ritvik and Arjun. These brothers teach us a lot of things in the way of this fictional novel. Our protagonist is Ritvik. His life is perfect because he is living it in a flow.
✍One of the things that intrigued me the most and had me wondering when I heard about this book was what the title really meant -- and there's this very specific moment when the title is echoed in the story that just had such a strong impact as I read it. That was my cheering moment. I just sat back and went 'woah!'. The title is truly perfect.
✍Questions like ‘what am I doing with my life?’ or ´Why do we take tomorrow for granted?´ will pop into your head. Most important of all. ‘How would you live today if you knew tomorrow would be the last day with the people you love?’ I'm sure a lot of bickering will be spared and time on social media will be reduced. People will put the material things aside and value the small and simple ones. Don´t you think? I would!
✍I simply adored this book. Vikram's writing is clean and simple, at times deceptively so, with its gentle, episodic and occasionally repetitive structure. The story is laced with loneliness, with life's numerous disappointments and the great grey weight of the real; all the chapters deliver some brotherly bond. I personally like all their heart-heart and emotional savage. But this is tempered with a sense of quiet celebration.
✍We get a slight glimpse into the fragile situation of how incredibly difficult it is to leave someone when they are struggling. I won't say more for fear of ruining the reading experience for someone else, but this book was so much more than a flimsy romance novel. Highly recommended!
I think what we see in this novel is genuine efforts of the author to create a masterpiece. This is a good book for everyone interested in philosophies. The simple language and a gripping storyline didn't allow me to take a lot of pauses. I strongly recommended this to everyone who wants to read a general and lighthearted fiction.
• Man with a white shadow is a fictional story depicted by the author in a form of whole novel. • The writing style, the lucid flow and the simplicity of the book makes it so gripping to read and for sure will make you read in one sitting. • The story of three brothers Karan, Arjun and Ritvik, their bond and the most tactic and difficult situations of the life that they face, has been depicted so well. • The way author has described the relation and bond of brothers despite whatever happens with them, that emotional touch in the writing just reaches the heart. • Apart from conveying personal issues of human life, author has also tried to convey social message and Karan devotes his life to NGO, Arjun later realises the importance of family in life. • The special touching part for me was the conversation of brothers in the hostel of Dharmshala, those hills and feel, and something that can be said without even conveying it..stating that silence has much more to tell, it was so raw, emotional and touching. • Rutvik just decides to go with the flow in the tuning of life. Grab this book and know how Rutvik bought a change in two brothers lives- Karan and Arjun. • What happens in the end that Karan just sits alone in that night, tightly hugging that bag !! That leather bag which Rutvik denied to gave him. • The book will make you escape the reality and just make you relaxed with an emotional touch.
A man with a white shadow by Vikram Suryawanshi @vikramsu777
“You cannot write anything that can be liked by everyone. Further, not just them but the world itself is different for all of them. You cannot give the same meaning to thos who live in different worlds”
I am speechless don’t know where to begin this fictional story with the engaging philosophies between these three characters in the mortal world and three characters in the immortal world took away my heart. There are so many layers and so many plots and sub plots and each character is so complexed and different but the author so effortlessly has brought them in his story with sheer simplicity.
The book right from the first page takes you by surprise and sets the tone right the author has touched multiple grave topics which will appeal to you and will force you to introspection on a lot of topics internally as well as externally. The author with his writing style masterfully hooks you with extreme ease he shifts between characters and timelines and with every twist you get more and more absorbed in the book.
I still can’t believe it’s a debut book of the author. I strongly recommend this to the readers out there as at no point you will feel bored and if you love philosophies then you will not be able to put this book down. Also new readers don’t shy away as the author with his lucid narration is made the book fun for beginners too. I read it while travelling and tine definitely did fly.
It is easy to find books where you are provided information that you didn't know. It is rare to see a book tell us things that we already know, but need a constant reminder for.
A man with a white shadow echoes the same thought. At its core, this is a philosophical book highlighting the pre-defined world of black and white; right and wrong; good and evil. However, this book goes beyond the pre-defined philosophy, and touches upon the grey area of humanity and our society. It emphasizes that the very idea of right and wrong is fragile, rather it's all a perspective.
The three main characters of this book can be considered as one single person having a conversation with his black, white, and grey side. Going back and forth and yet not going anywhere.
Looking at its cover and its short bio you might think that you know what this book is all about, but you would be surprised. I guess that in itself encompasses our idea of life. We think we know almost everything, but in reality we know nothing.
BOOK REVIEW BOOK - " A Man with A White Shadow " AUTHOR - " Vikram Suryawanshi " GENRE - " Philosophical fiction "
The title " A Man with a white shadow " and its cover page was enigmatic and piqued me to read this book.
This is the story of six people in parallel universes. The story of Gods and mortals. Three brothers from a small village - Arjun , Karan and Ritwik belong to the same family. Karan and Arjun were twins and Ritwik was their cousin. This didn't diminish the bond between them. Each was unique in their own way. Childhood was a curious phase in their lives. Middle class ambitions and their naughtiness separated their paths for a while.
As they grew, each developed their own virtues and vices. Clamaflouged in their preconceived notions and vent up childhood traumas, each choose a path they felt was apt and right for them.
Karan and Arjun are separated by will and Ritwik is the only thread tying them together other than the ambicial cord. Will their paths converge again?
All the three live lifes to their wishes. Arjun being the smartest, captilises well capitalism. Karan takes the route of social service. Ritwik, though unsure of what he wanted in life, intoxicates his body with his desires. Though the journey seems good, still having lost the company of one another, each crumble at one point or the other.
Will their paths converge again ? Can they resolve the issues decked up inside their subsconciousness ?
In the parallel universe, Lord Ganesha ,Kartik and Brahaspati are contemplating about their visit to earth. Being Ganesh's first visit, he is writing his to do list in the world while Kartik and Brahaspati are sharing their experiences. Enjoy their conversations which run parallel to the story.
Overall, the author portrayed flaws of humans which is often clamaflouged underneath our virtues. Now doing good is not wrong but is it enough ?
It is a philosophical book. The story start with lord Ganesha who manifesting his wishes to visit earth and inspect one of the most marvelous creations of nature—Humans. He seen everyone suffer and decided to go and help the world .
After that, the story roam around Karan , who worked for NGO and helps needy persons and Arjun who was joyful and active, and Ruthvik .
The book deals with bitterish reality, mental state, society and families .
Also , we learn a lesson is that, every child is different so don't compare to others.
Language of the book is easy to understand and the writing style of book is fascinating. The cover of the book is zestful. The title of the book is suitable. Story of the book is captivating. Plot is well developed and characterization is perfect.
Favourite line- Living a life without an aim is the only way to live happily, for we are never completely happy until we achieve our ambition, and become completely clueless if we achieve it.
I would give it 5 out of 5.
I recommend this book to everyone who would like to read a philosophical book.
A Man With A White Shadow' starts with Lord Ganesha planning his visit to earth and understanding humans and their humanity. Lord Ganesha also shows his views about human suffering and plans to take charge of showing them the correct path. The only problem that withstands here is the initiation part, which the lord is unaware of, therefore he seeks advice from his brother Kartik.
"It is only a fool who thinks it is easier for children to overcome trauma."
The book includes characters known as Karan and Arjun who are twins but very different from each other. The story also includes one important mortal called Rutvik, who is their cousin. These 3 individuals are bought up in a very humble background. The parents of these individuals want their children to get a proper education and understand the world structure.
The best part about the book is the interconnectedness and the cycle of life forming a full circle. Throughout the story, the author has done a wonderful job by covering up the wrong norms of society while bringing them to light. The increasing gap between rich and poor, inequality, resources distribution gap, caste-based issues and no one caring much about it.
Usually, we will find that there are so many numerous ways via which an individual can build their mindset, however out of all of them, it is quite evident that none of it is as profound as reading books that will make us think.
It is only through the medium of books that some of the greatest minds around have the ability to ask questions and at the same time, they can delve deep into thought.
‘A Man With White Shadow’ by Vikram Suryawanshi is one such book that has the ability to cover some of the essential philosophy that can be proved best for those who are just starting or looking to expand their mind.
Through the short stories that have been narrated in the book, the readers are tasked with the deep thought provoking questions and given a glimpse of how truly our human mind works in different scenarios.
While there isn’t always a clear and distinct answer to the many questions that arise, the entire field is a gateway to a higher sense of self and it is what gets all of us to think about all manner of things. Hence O am giving this books FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

✨Vikram Suryawanshi's A Man with a White Shadow is contemporary story with philosophical hints that turns between the two domains. It begins with an exchange among God and one of his children, Ganesha.
✨The story portrays the closeness between siblings Karan, Arjun, and Ritvik, as well as the troubles they face. Ganesha is presently ready to come to Earth in human structure to change the disorder and train individuals the appropriate method for leading life. The book talks about destiny.
✨To dive deeper into the account, you should totally give it a read. It is totally advantageous.Since the language is direct and straightforward.
✨The characters are phenomenal, and the verbal trades are superb.I was especially taken with the book's cover. It has a decent shading plan and matches the story well
