Piper Mackenzie first sees him shirtless, standing in front of the military plane she was about to board, with one rather large wrench in his hand. The fact that he has the plane—the one that she’s about to be flying on for hours—in pieces only minutes before she’s set to take off on it doesn’t faze her. At least not until a flippant joke about dying in mid-air leaves his lips.
The second time she sees him, he’s helping her from the wreckage of her car. The wreckage that he helped cause.
The third, he’s laying across from her in the same bed, and there’s no denying what happened the night before.
The fourth, well that time would be the first of many. Being Mrs. Jonah Crew has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
Jonah Crew saw her for the first time as she stared at him in awe. It was snowing, the temp was in the negative degrees, and he couldn’t think about anything but her and the look of horror on her face when he tells a badly-timed joke.
The second time he sees her, his heart skips a beat, but not for the reason that one might think. Mainly, it’s due in part to the fact that his truck smashed into her car so hard that his chest hits the steering wheel and his heart decides to stop working right.
The third time, he’s fairly positive that he’s died and gone to heaven. At least, that’s what waking up next to a beautiful woman like her signifies, right?
The fourth? Well, he’s not quite sure how he got there, but he’s already said ‘I do’ so what’s a guy to do?
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
What I loved most about Piper and Jonah was that they didn’t play games. Instead, these two decided they wanted to give one another a shot and were all in. I enjoyed how fate kept placing them on the same path. They had a great connection. Jonah was so sweet with her even though being sweet wasn’t what he was known for. Makes it a very special connection. They had great chemistry.
The story had its suspense and surprises. It stayed true to the style that can be attributed to LLV. I find her to be very unique in her process and have come to rely on that consistency. I am definitely interested in getting the scoop on the rest of the guys and what makes them tick.
Another great addition to the ever growing LLV collection.

And this is another reason why LLV will ALWAYS be a one-click author for me! Amazing characters, intriguing plots, and a ton of love - I can never get enough! When I met Jonah in the previous book, I figured him for a brooding but sexy hero. I wanted to know what made him this way and this story delivered in a big way.
Jonah was so amazing. He was like a triple fudge sundae with strawberries and whipped cream and nuts and etc. So many elements made him into the incredible person he was and LLV did a fab job of bringing him to life for me. And Piper... this woman was perfect for him. So freaking perfect. I loved how fate wove its way through their meeting and eventual relationship. I love how easy everything between them was. I loved how they loved and cared for each other. Honestly, I had a lot of envy for this fictional relationship. Not gonna lie. But I'm cool with that because if I didn't envy it, then it wouldn't be awesome, right?
With a bit of suspense mixed in, this romance was hot and full of delicious banter. Jonah and Piper were obviously meant to be and I'm thrilled I was able to witness their journey together. You need to meet them ASAP!!
AWWWWWW….. How I adore ‘accidental wedding’ books! It Wasn’t Me was the PERFECT personification of the theme, specially with Jonah and Piper’s love story made fated by serendipity, which made it more real and heart touching. It was PERFECTION!!!
Piper, the last of the McKenzie girls, was set to return from Germany when Fate put Jonah Crew on her path, multiple times and when she needed him most. I love a ‘fated’ love story and this one hit all the right spots.
Jonah… OMG… This man went straight to my LLV all time fav, best book boyfriends list! I just love a grumpy, straight shooter man with everyone else that is exclusively sweet caring, and devoted to his loved one!He was fantastic! Swoon fest ll around.
Piper of course was as relatable as Lani Lynn Vale other female characters, and that’s no doubt why we love them. Sassy and sweet, she was a great counterpart and perfect match for Jonah and his grouchy Alpha persona. For me, they were indeed PERFECT for one another! How they just embraced what Fate was trying to tell them, specially with the accidental wedding and held on, because they knew how special was what they were feeling?! It’s total catnip for me and I couldn’t have loved it more.
Ms. Vale did it again! Incredibly addictive story with plenty of action, fast paced storyline and SO MUCH HEAT!!! This had to be one of her steamiest books to date, with this married couple practically burning up the sheets with how HOT they were together. LOVE. EVERY. SECOND! And with those scorching secondary characters, I’m dying already for the next KPD Motorcycle Patrol!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I’d made a promise right then and there that I would go through heaven and hell combined to make sure that I made her as happy as she’d made me. I was convinced that one day, at the end of our lives together, I’d finally be even in the love department. That I’d even up the score. I’d give her every last bit of love that she deserved and keep on giving it until I had nothing left to give.

Omh this one is going on my favorites list!! Definite recovery and reread as well. Great job!
Piper & Jonah's story is lighter, fun, super steamy and an overall enjoyable read! I love their personalities, how they meet, all of it!! We get some fun Sam moments, too. I wish there had been more Downy, & there were some interesting bits that were left hanging & I wished they'd been fleshed out more. But the blurb actually matches the story, so that's a win!
Thumbs way up for this story! I really loved it!! 😁💚
Even though there is no drama, angst or much of a story, it was still a decent one - though the writing was confusing at times and a bit of a snoozefest in the first half. There's also a lot of sex. But the main characters are a good fit and work well together. In fact one of the main reasons why it was not a DNF for me is because it made a nice change in the married-in-Vegas-accidently-while-drunk trope that they didn't even think of divorcing/annulling the marriage or have any other million stupid excuses not to be together! Once this couple hooked up, they were together as a couple for the rest of the story & loved how they "fit" as a couple.
Also, there was no OM/OW or sex scenes with OP. Hero was not portrayed as a Manho and heroine was a virgin. Hero was in his early 40's and heroine I believe was 32. There's also a great Epilogue 5/6 years later with 3 kids (triplets) & a baby on the way.
Do recommend to anyone who is not looking for anything deep or drama lama....
It Wasn’t Me is book two in KPD Motorcycle Patrol series and I am in love with the series! KPD Motorcycle Patrol is a new unit, all but one of the officers in KPDMP have had disciplinary or attitude issues are basically on their last chance before losing their jobs. Jonah is one on his last chance, a self-proclaimed asshole, he says what’s on his mind, doesn’t sugar coat a thing, doesn’t like anyone and most don’t like him. Piper, I’ve been in love with Piper, Phoebe and Pru since they first appeared on the pages as little girls. All three have their own quirks and are as different as they are the same. Piper has been in the Army and is returning home for good. She has no idea what she wants to do with her life, she just knows she’s ready to be back around her family and out of the Army.
Fate steps in when Piper is ready to head home from Germany and puts Jonah on the same flight as Piper. At their first meeting both realize there is something there but don’t act on it. Fate continues to put these two together in what amounts to some funny, sweet and sexy scenes. I absolutely love the way Jonah melts for Piper, he is an Alpha male but has such a tender side when it comes to her. Piper, she is feisty and once she commits to trying things out with Jonah she is not scared to go for what she wants.
I read It Wasn’t Me in one sitting; it was filled with laughter, tenderness, and great appearances by people we’ve come to love throughout the series and very little angst. It Wasn’t Me is a feel good romance about fate and finding your soul mate and working to make insta love a lifelong love. It is definitely a perfect book to relax with on a summer afternoon!
I needed more drama and angst but it was still a good read. It was steamy, romantic and the epilogue made me melt. Piper and Jonah were the sweetest couple! Loved them together.
Ahhh!! It Wasn't Me was pure Lani Lynn Vale goodness. It was filled to the brim with the usual sexiness, quirkiness and all together amazingness that I've come to expect when reading this author's work. I loved Jonah and Pru's story. They were funny, sexy and so delicious together!
I loved this story because of the amazing banter and sexytimes but I especially loved that it had the most awesome meet cute between Jonah and Pru. This story was romantic and swoony and hit me right in the feels. This story was also fantastic because we saw a whole host of familiar characters we have loved from past LLV books. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
These series are beginning to all seem alike to me. But they are always entertaining. Sexy Gruff Alpha bearded dudes. Cops, soldiers. nurses. servicemen/women. FAMILY.
Cray cray people who risk the safety or our newly minted lovers. Pregnancy and HEA!! WOOHOO!!!
Would be nice to have a few interracial couplings here. I think I read of 1 or 2 in another series. That's it. At rate which LLV cranks out these cute stories, I would not see it as a hardship, considering some of her readership...
3.5~3.75 Stars If you crave high angst, full-on drama, or desire either jealousy and/or possessiveness in your MCs, then this book is not for you!
'It wasn't me' is the easy-going tale of Piper and Jonah, both of whom continues to meet repeatedly under coincidental circumstances. One of which results in their getting married, in nowhere else than Vegas.
I went in blind with this book. Neither read the synopsis nor any reviews. I loved that the MCs acted like adults in acknowledging their feelings for each other. They decided to give their unexpected marriage a real try. On the flip side, to some, this book can seem too flat or bland. The climax or subsequent mystery read too childish or unbelievable to be true.
Now i would be annoyed that a girl is 32 and a virgin.. but honestly from what the book said she was picky in dates and she made a vow to wait for marriage.. so i aint hating it.. i know tons of ppls who waited for marriage.. now this story was okay.. not amazing just great it was light easy.. the MC were cool nothing extreme or OTT... only "drama" i saw was why someone wanted to buy his land... i would have slapped Jonah for making that dumb "plane" joke.. dont kid around with you could die in the Sky... Dont talk about that when your getting on a plane.. ever..
Beside that it was a cuteish story alot of hit and runs with this family... i was wired out that no guy would look at Piper? But 292010 woman would gush over Jonah like?? Really not one guy??
No ow/om drama, drama, no cheating, sexy times, secondary charas, Virgin gal and not a manwhore dude

Hot pants and hot love created a winning combination…
Piper and Jonah had sparks from the first time they met. Fate, circumstances, accident. Pick one and it would fit how they met. And met again. I loved the randomness of their meet up, how things might have never been yet now led to so much…
They were both starting again. Jonah, cranky, hot and yet so tender and protective with Piper. Piper was as independent as they came, strong, with a love of family. She loved to laugh and Jonah loved to growl so, of course, their hook ups were pure fire. Full of humour and heat (oh for the love of sun, the HEAT), they rolled with every punch, always coming back to each other for support and the love they didn’t even want to speak of…
It was insta-lust and then insta-love and I loved every funny, sexy moment of it!
Enjoyable read. I haven't read a Lani Lynn Vale book in a couple of years. I am not sure why I stopped reading her books but I am glad I picked this up. Definitely has made me want to read more of this series.

Piper Mackenzie is returning home after her tour and in order to get there she has to fly. Her anxiety is already heightened but when she sees Jonah Crew working on the plane she is hoping her trip doesn't become the next installation of Final Destination. When the ride turns turbulent she finds herself sitting next to Jonah. As if fate was setting their course they both end up in Vegas together and married. Can a wild night lead to happily ever after?
I was curious about Jonah when I read the first book and this exceeded expectations. I thought that Piper and Jonah were perfect together. You were not sure what had Jonah so curt in general but with Piper he has a definite softer side.
Loved this story. H and h made a great couple. Although there's only a little build-up of their relationship, loved how they met again and again. And how close their relationship with their families were.
I loved that Piper and Jonah didn't beat around the bush when it came to their relationship, it was part of the reason why I loved them so much. But I enjoyed them even more as individuals, they were spunky as hell.
I DEVOURED this book. I fucking love reminiscing back to the Sam and Cheyenne days where it all began. I feel like we should re visit the OG couples for a mini series of what they're up to now!. That would be epic.
Finally Piper and Jonah's story!.
these pair melt my heart and remind me so much of her parents story. I love that they throw themselves right into the thick of things and just click. The connection, the chemistry... It was just meant to be for them and you can feel that straight up.
As always with these stories it's fast paced full of suspense, the good kind of action and a whole lota sweet and crazy hilarious shenanigans. The characters have depth and great relatability. The story is a rollercoaster of emotions that just make you FEEL with solid plot progression and epilogues that leave you feeling all kinds of contentment. I love Sam and his sneaky shenanigans. I love Cheyenne and her bossy loving nature. The girls!! Those sisters crack me up!. I just can't with the greatness.
I can't wait for what's next. I am yet to find a book I don't love from the author. Also... that dedication at the start broke my heart.
WOW another amazing story by the talent that is Lani lynn Vale so love everything she write including this one it has to be one of my favorite of the next gen stories . This is the second book to the KPD Motorcycle patrol but can be read as a standalone I do recommend that you read read everyone of LLV books . If you want to read the families books it would be Boomtown it's about the heroines parents then to read her sisters finding love get MY bad and One chance fancy , then for the hero his brother has his own story it is Bang switch all these can be read as a standalone though you might run into some spoilers if you don't read them in order . I really loved the fast connection between Piper and Jonah they really were meant to be with one another the chemistry is just super intense . And oh my gosh we got to see more of some of my favorite characters and hopefully some new couples . As always it's bitter sweet ending a LLV book because you don't want it to be over but then your happy that these characters found a happy ending . I can't wait to read more adventure by this author she just creates awesomeness . I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

To be honest, I wasn't too excited going into this one. Book 1 just did not work for me at all. BUT book 2 was MILES ahead of the first one. There were still some timeline issues and there was one thing that didn't match up with book 1. Two separate things happened. If I hadn't recently read the first book then I wouldn't have even noticed, to be honest.
I could go on but I'll just say this... It Wasn't Me was a classic LLV novel. It was a storyline that keeps you interested and turning the page. You have a badass alpha that is brought to his knees by one little lady.
LLV is my comfort read. She’s my #1 go to author when I want to read something fun or something that just makes me smile.
This latest LLV was great. It was all the things I mentioned above but it was just too sweet. Too neat and tidy. There was absolutely no angst...no hurtles the couple had to tackle....nothing. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved Piper and Jonah. I just wish it hadn’t been so perfect. I’d have liked something a little messy. Maybe give me a little angst.
If your have time for a super sweet low angst (yet scorching hot) love story this book is 100% for you. It’s the perfect book for a sit by the pool for an afternoon read.
I’ve been waiting for Piper Mackenzie’s story ever since meeting her in her sisters’ books. The Mackenzie family is a stubborn, comical, and a bit out of control group who love fiercely and have each other’s backs at all times, even if they do act without thinking at times, making an already chaotic situation, worse.
Piper is so much like her sisters and her mom that all of them together is either one heck of a good time or a situation that will send their men running for cover. I adore the bond they share and the fact that when Piper or her sisters make less than stellar decisions, or even good ones that are made without much thought, their mother and their father do what they can to help while also telling them like it is.
Jonah Crew is a bit of a live wire in the sense that he doesn’t hold anything back. Most people think he’s an asshole, which he would openly admit he is. But he’s different with Piper, and that fact is clear from their very first interaction. They complement each other extremely well, and Piper has a way with him that helps smooth out his rougher edges, not changing him, but bringing out a side of him that very few experience.
The way these two go about a relationship is definitely unconventional, but they make it work because what they’re building, even without truly knowing each other, is something special…is something that neither thought they would have and the fact that they find it with one another makes it that much more fulfilling.
From the start, It Wasn’t Me felt a bit different from Lani Lynn Vale’s usual story line…a lot less drama is within its pages, and it’s more lighthearted than most of her other stories. And, this is exactly the kind of book I needed! And I’m so glad that what happened in Vegas, didn’t stay there:)
I was so so on the first book, so I was a bit leery about reading this one. I'm happy to say that this one really worked for me. Sure Jonah was an ass, but it was in a way that didn't bother me, mostly because he was an ass in an honest way. He called people out on their bad behavior. You would have thought that Jonah would have been an ass to Piper too, but for some reason Jonah seemed to be a bit protective of Piper and helped her from the start. I loved how these two kept running into each other and how they took advantage of it.
When the two of them ended up in Vegas I knew they would end up married. I loved how both of them reacted, how both of them wanted to give the marriage a try. It was fun to see how their families reacted. Through everything that they went through Jonah and Piper were each other's biggest champions.
I loved how this one ended, loved that we got to see Jonah and Piper happy living their lives.

Such a great feel-good romance! A bit of insta-love. But, their chemistry was so apparent that you just can’t help but to love them. He’s a bit broody and gruff. She’s a funny yet beautiful woman. He’s a police officer/former military that rides a motorcycle and has tattoos with one gorgeous physique. And, she’s a nurse and former military with a kind and caring personality. The combinations between the two just makes them work. So Jonah and Piper become a couple. With alternating POV’s Ms. Vale writes a passionate love story. Always a pleasure to read one of this author’s creations...
4 stars because I'd feel bad giving it less, but I'm still perfectly unsure about this series.
Jonah is definitely the brooding, moody, jerky type. So it's quite a surprise, even for him, how well he's getting on with the stranger on his way back from Germany. She's beautiful, but the connection between them that's not physical might be even stronger than their chemistry. In just a matter of days, they find themselves married to each other. Weirdly, everything is so easy between them, that none of them is questioning it or want to backpedal.
I think this easy connection is what I liked about this book the most. And what the first story in this series lacked in the characters' department, this one I found lacking storywise. I loved both Jonah and Piper, especially together, it was a sweet story, but I wished for a more gripping storyline.
