It's eat or be eaten...literally!
Massive changes in the dungeon have drawn out new monsters for Laios and his party to take on-and taste! But the shift has attracted the attention of the western elves, whose intervention could spell further trouble not only for Laios, but also for everyone on the island! Facing the threat of the Lunatic Magician from within and the elves from without, the adventurers must rally as a team like never before, especially when forced to confront a beast straight out of Senshi's nightmares!

Delicious in Dungeon, also known as Dungeon Meshi, is a manga series that follows a group of adventurers as they explore a dungeon and cook the monsters they encounter.

The party is joined by a new member, Izutsumi, who was previously in Shuro's party. The group is deep underground, in areas barely explored before, and they can't afford to have anyone acting up and risking everyone's lives. So Izutsumi will have to learn how to play nice and eat monsters, all the while the rest of the party spills old secrets and those on the surface begin to plan subjugating the dungeon once and for all.

Overall, Delicious in Dungeon is a unique and entertaining manga series that combines dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The art style is also fantastic, and the monsters look both terrifying and delicious. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, comedy, and cooking.

The secret origin of Senshi is revealed in the second half, giving a strong finish after a slower start that involved outside politics and an idyllic village filled with bored and boring immortals.

I am still completely caught up in this series. I love the glimpse of Senshi's past revealed in this volume, and the lore of the dungeon that is still being revealed. There was a line in here about how the dungeon leaves you alone if you don't ask much of it, but that if you have strong desires it throws even more obstacles into your way. Our heroes have such big goals right now, but they're marching ahead regardless!

I already was completely in love with this series before it added a half wild catgirl to the main group, but here I am enjoying it even more with every volume <3

Wow, Senshi’s story got me on my feels. But my favorite still was the one before that, with Marcille making the familiars.

An improvement over the preceding few volumes due to a return to basics - cookery and high adventure. A well constructed backstory takes up the bulk of the tale while also setting up future installments.

THERE ARE NINJA CATPEOPLE IN THIS DUNGEON?!

-nightmares steamed in alcohol
-Ice golem chawan mushi
-Barometz balut
-soulful eggs benedicts
-skyfish and chips
-griffen soup

Also, a character milks a Minotaur, and they teach ghosts how to appreciate food even if they don't taste.

3.5 out of 5 stars
This was a little slower than other volumes. Not really a bad thing because it meant we got some much needed backstory for my favourite character and I ate that s*** up! I wasn't a huge fan of how heavily this focused on our new character rather than on the group as a whole but I do think some interesting stuff happened that means the plot can really take large steps in the next volume or two. Excited as always to continue.

Part of my 2025 year of friend recs

Senshi needs to be protected at all costs ?

Laius is soooooo one track minded. Hears a tragic backstory and is like "yeah.... but what did it taste like." ?

(4,3 of 5 for this delicious manga parody)
I like food, I love to cook and I had my share of tabletop RPG back in days. And this series combines it in a light humorous way. It's super fun, very interesting and very clever. I'm always fascinated by the author's creativity, the new recipes, ingredients and ways to cook. This time there is an extra layer in the form of Senshi background story, which is great. This is "must-read" for all food & fantasy enthusiasts.

A lot of great stuff going on in this volume. Cat girl becoming a part of the main team, getting deeper into the story with the Golden City people further directing the journey to defeat the Lunatic Mage, the elves showing up and adding pressure, and Senshi's dramatic and chilling backstory. I don't actually know if the monster fights and meals were super exciting to see play out, but they were cool enough. I instinctively want to give this a 4 star and say it's on the higher end. But I just never instinctively give 5 stars, I suppose because I don't like reading *that* much, so to help me have a more even ranking system I think I should give this a solid 5.

The second half was better. (I'm so glad I'm not the only one that gets bored with the other group)

Poor Senshi's past was intense.

The stint at Golden Castle Village is honestly very boring, but there are still lots to enjoy in this volume: Izutsumi has integrated pretty well with the group, the bits with Marcille and her familiar are hilarious, and it's nice to find out more about Senshi's backstory. I don't remember talking about the art before but this series is easily the most well-drawn manga I've ever read. As someone who also makes art and comics, I know I'll be returning to it a lot.

My favourite volume so far.

The story moves forward a few leaps as world building takes place and plot is laid down. Senshi is laid bare as we witness his heartbreaking origins in one of the strongest chapters yet. The art is, as always perfect, beautiful and full of charm.
