Getaway Bay is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
A body on the rocks at a popular surfing spot is bad enough – but when the surfer’s identity is revealed, the media once again descend on Addison’s seaside sanctuary.
Did the surfer accidentally fall to his death off Echo Point? Or was he pushed?
As Addison and the Beach House Murder Club help the police investigate, it seems everyone close to the victim has something to hide.
A few locals have some explaining to do, as well.
Can Addison and Isaac crack the case with the eyes of the country upon them?
The Getaway Bay cozy mysteries have everything you love – suspense to keep you guessing, twists you don’t see coming, and characters you want to have a cup of tea with – plus an added dose of Aussie flavour.
The small coastal town of Getaway Bay is the scene of another murder, this time a visiting surfer has been found dead at the bottom of a coastal cliff. Addison and her murder club team are soon on the case. When it turns out the surfer is heir to a mining company, with several people with motives hanging around, Addison has to go into overdrive to get to the truth.
Another fun. light read in the Getaway Bay series. This series is a breath of fresh air. A quick, easy read with likeable characters and a wonderful setting. Recommended.
Okay I am officially a fan of this series. It is nicely written and easy to read and just what I need sometimes between other heavier stuff. Luckily for me is writing them fast enough as long as I pace myself with my reading:)
Getaway Bay is becoming notorious for the number of murders that occur in its beautiful surrounds. A body is found, apparently pushed off the cliff and Addison and her friends assist the police in solving the crime. When she is stressed Addison cooks and there are lots of good food ideas in the book. I really liked the eggs in a cup idea and mean to try it myself!
It is all good fun and so easy to read. I hope the author keeps them coming right through to z:)
Another enjoyable Getaway Bay cozy murder mystery from Grace York. In this one the unlikeable heir of a mining magnate is pushed to his death from a lighthouse on a cliff. It takes all the sleuthing skills of police volunteers Addison and Adam to help Detective Isaac Wilcox solve the case. I'm also enjoying the ongoing story of Addison's guest house, her cooking and her relationships with Isaac, the guests and the villagers. In fact I'd think of moving there is it wasn't for the high murder rate!
It was New Years Eve in Getaway Bay and the residents of Addison’s beach house were enjoying the festivities. The following morning – New Years Day – Addison received an early call from Detective Isaac Wilcox to say a body had been found on the beach at Echo Point. Used by surfers all year round, there had been campers as well as surfers at the bonfire the night before. Who was the unfortunate person who had come to grief as a new year was beginning?
Addison and Adam, in their roles as volunteers for the police department, started to investigate yet another murder in the area. But with confusion and few clues to go by, it seemed it would be a frustrating search. Was it an accident? Or was it murder?
Evil at Echo Point is the 5th in the Getaway Bay Cozy Mystery Series by Aussie author Grace York (aka ) and I loved it just as much as the first four. Twists and turns, delicious food cooked by Addison (cooking helped when she was stressed), invested characters and some nefarious deeds – what more does a reader need? Highly recommended.
One of the better cozy mystery series but still lots of repetition and padding as is normal for this genre. Nice to have a series based in Australia written by an Australian author.
Somedays I am carefully selecting books to read, somedays I am going for blind reads. Sometimes books surprise you and sometimes those don't and you regret picking those up. This is the latter case.
I had a kindle edition and I went in blind so I had no idea it was a part of a series. So I thought, well bold of the writer to throw characters in without giving them their due introduction. Then midway, when they mentioned a club and regular meetings I found it peculiar and immediately realised that this book might have been an instalment in a series. I guessed it to be 4th or 5th one. After finishing it I checked and I was right. Hurray for me!!!
I found this book to be weird. The crime is being solved by a woman Addison who is the main protagonist. We spend the most time with her and she spends most of her time cooking. So, we learn about a lot of dishes she is making or wants to make. Whenever she is visiting the police station, she is taking food with her to feed the police. After a while, you get tired of food and talks about food. What about the murder, you wonder... and very often do you wonder this.
You also get an account of the police from her. I don't understand why the police is sharing information with her when she has no special position with the police and is a volunteer at best.
I don't know, it's a weird arrangement to write stories from, esp when it is about a murder.
Then there is a lot of repetition of the facts of the case. Person A gets some information. Person A shares it with Person B. So we learn about the information as well. But then Person B has to tell a group of people so we learn the facts again. Then couple of people were missing so when they join the group, facts get repeated again. This happens quite a lot of time. I got tired of it after a while.
I really really wanted to like this book but I couldn't. I apologise.
Evil at Echo Point is book five in the Getaway Bay series by Grace York. On New Year Day, a body found on the beach near Addison Guesthouse. At first, everyone thought it was suicide. With further investigation, Law enforcement detectives of Getaway Bay declared the death suspicious. Addison and the Beach House Murder Club convene to help Issac to find the murder. Evil's reader at Echo Point will continue to follow Addison, Beach House Murder Club and Issac to determine what happens.
"Evil at Echo Point" is another fantastic attention to this excellent series. "Evil at Echo Point" is an enjoyable cozy mystery to read, and I engaged with the plot of this book from the first page, and I was unable to put the book down. I love Grace York portrayal of her characters and the way they intertwine with each other throughout this book. "Evil at Echo Point' is well written and researched by Grace York. I like the way Grace York describes the settings of "Evil at Echo Point", which allows me to imagine living at Addison Beach House.
The readers of Evil at Echo Point will learn about how love and jealousy can affect a person. The reader's of Evil at Echo Point will also learn about the pressure that law enforcement officers have to look after a small community police station.
A decent plot but just felt a bit lacking and I have to admit that although it was well thought out and executed in really wasn't a fan of this one. New Year's Eve ends with a phone call from her detective about a body found on some rocks and that he can't reach his constable (who attended a surfer's party there). She and Adam rush over but their fears are unfounded. The constable is fine and the dead body is a man. A twin and heir to a mining fortune. Now with the press and his famous father descending on the small community the race is on to find who, how and why. Was it the local that he picked a fight with earlier? Was it the girlfriend that he was cheating on and who seems to know another newcomer well (perhaps too well). Was it the twin to get his hands on the whole fortune? Or was there someone else? The Murder Club joins in the hunt whilst keeping an eye on Mrs J who unfortunately has taken a bit of a spill.
I love this series very much. I had no idea who the the killer turned out to be. I am glad Olivia was in this story. I like Isaac and Kendall. The beach house is a fun place to live. I liked the outcome. Each book can be read individually, but it’s more enjoyable reading from the beginning. Small town living sounds wonderful where everyone helps their friends and neighbors. 👍👍👍
Another fun Getaway Bay cozy mystery! I feel like the characters in this story are old friends. The plot was well developed and contained some surprises. I highly recommend this book to other cozy mystery readers.
Another in this cozy mystery series set in Queensland. Simple, short and sweet - you can't really go wrong. Builds on the characters from the previous books, as another murder occurs in Getaway Bay, though its hard to believe so many murders could happen in such a small seaside town!
This is book 5 in the Getaway Bay series set in a small coastal town. When a surfer is found dead at Echo Point the locals are horrified to discover that the death is not accidental. Addison, who runs a boarding house for artists and writers finds herself assisting the police with some side investigations of her own. This is a great cosy with good characters in an idyllic setting. However, I find myself constantly reaching for snacks as Addison loves to cook and the constant food references are not good for my waistline!
