Kathleen Kelly was born on 14 July 1947 in the Central Valley of California, USA. She obtained a degree in Anthropology and also studied History at the University of California in Santa Barbara. She was a real estate broker, when she met her future husband, Larry Jay Martin. Then, after doing some editing for him, she thought she'd try her own hand at writing. She moved on to become a full time writer.

Published since 1988, she signed her books with her married name, Kat Martin, but she also used two pseudonyms: Kathy Lawrence for a book in collaboration with her husband Larry Jay Martin, and Kasey Mars for her first contemporary romances. The New York Times bestselling writer, among her many awards, has won the prestigious RT Book Review Magazine Career Achievement Award. To date, Kat has over eleven million copies of her books in print. "I've always loved books. I was an avid reader, with any number of my own stories rolling around in my head. Writing them down seemed a logical step."

"I love anything old," Kat says. "I love to travel and especially like to visit the places where my books are set. My husband and I often stay in out-of-the-way inns and houses built in times past. It's fun and it gives a wonderful sense of a by-gone era."

4 Fraternizing Stars

*May have some mild Spoilers*

"I've got you, baby," he said, tightening his hold. "I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."-Ethan

When a book opens with Sinners, whores, and sluts beware—your time is at hand you know it's gonna be action packed. Into the Fury, the 1st book in the BOSS, Inc. series, was exciting, sexy and sweet. The plot of murderers, sexy ex cops, and lingerie models was intriguing. This book grabbed my interest from line one and kept it til the end. I had a hard time putting it down to... you know eat and sleep. Hell who needs sleep not this woman! Ethan Brodie was sexy as hell. Of course I do have a weakness for uniforms, (ex)cops, firefighters, and (ex) military men. So no surprise I fell hard for ex cop Ethan. Ethan was all alpha, controlled, protective, and bad-ass. Valentine Hart was smart, sweet and very down to earth. She was beautiful with a good heart, and Ethan never stood a chance. They both fought their attraction to each other, because neither wanted a relationship and there was a "NO Fraternizing" rule. But rules are meant to be broken and some flames burn too hot. Ethan and Val's relationship was full of passion. They were good together like a team, and they respected each other.

"I need you,' she said softly. "Oh, God, Ethan, I need you so much."-Val

"I don't think you could possibly understand. Until today, I had no idea what it would feel like to see two of the most important people in my life looking death square in the face."-Ethan

There was a side story of Meg and Dirk who's relationship starts in this book, but their story is the next book out. There is a little preview of their book at the end of this book that has me all hyped up. Now I can't wait til the their book comes out so I can get my hands on it! And I checked out the cover for Dirk's book too , mmm talk about yummy eye candy! I loved Dirk as much as Ethan. Although Meg did come across a little judgy, for the most part I liked her too. I also really liked Luke, Ethan's little brother. I hope Luke gets a book too! This is the first book by Kat Martin I have read, and I really liked it. Tons of action, the book flowed so well and the characters were realistic and likable. Into the Fury was a great read and I will be check out more not just from this series but from this author!

"SINNERS, SLUTS,and WHORES-BEWARE.

Your TIME is at HAND."

That is the opening line to Kat Martin's new BOSS, Inc series. Here the men of BOSS, Inc put their lives on the line for the job and the women that steal their hearts.

Ex-cop, Ethan Brodie has some experience with beautiful woman, and he has learned the hard way that there is no substitute for good characters. So, when Ethan accepts being the lead of additional security for La Belle Lingerie's press tour, he expects to discover who is sending these threatening letters to La Belle's top 10 models and go on with his life. Ethan has enough woman troubles he isn't about to lose his job over the no-fraternizing rule, but that was before he got to know Valentine Hart.

Valerie Hartman (AKA Valentine Hart) is working towards her dream job. Val entered a contest on a whim to become the next La Belle top model and, out of 1000's of girls that entered, won. The pay is great and allows her to finish paying for vet school. She just wants to finish her contract and go on with her life. She wasn't expecting to become one of the 10 woman targeted by an anonymous stalker because of her temporary job. And after one of the models is killed, Ethan makes protecting Val his personal mission.

But the closer Val and Ethan get, so does the killer. Will Ethan discover who is behind these threats/killings in time to protect the woman that has shown him the true meaning of love?

ARC provided by the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Kat Martin has written several wonderful romantic-suspense series the last two are the Against Series and the Brodies of Alaska Series. Now we have the first book of her BOSS, Inc. Series. All these books are great, with hot alpha heroes and heroines that earn their respect while winning their hearts. Into the Fury does all that and more with a twisted tale that has you wondering what the real motive is until the very end.

Ethan Brodie is an operative for Brodie Operations Security Services (BOSS). It seems that a lot of the Brodie men end up as P.I's and bodyguards. Ethan, former Dallas PD, is in charge of security for a bunch of lingerie models on a national tour. Before the tour even starts, threats begin when the top 10 models in the show receive very disturbing letters. It's going to be a long tour, especially since the head of operations for La Belle slaps a no fraternization edict in place. Yeah, really long.

Ethan, who has sworn off women, can't seem to keep his eyes and mind off the very lovely Valentine. That is a problem because she has the same reaction to Ethan. Val is a friend of Ethan's cousin's wife, Sam, and she asks Ethan to especially watch out for and protect her. Just one more reason for Ethan to stick like glue to Val. Before they even have the first show in Seattle, WA, one of the models is murdered. This is the tour from hell and way to many nasty things are happening. Ethan has come to realize that Val is a whole lot more that boobs and legs and is trying to solve this before she is the next model to die.

An action packed romance, with a sexy PI Ethan Brody and beautiful lingerie model Valerie Hartman.

I really liked Ethan, and how protective he was over Val and his little daughter Hannah.

Val was sweet and kind, but I did sometimes get frustrated with her over her indecision of whether she wanted a relationship with Ethan b/c she didn’t like his violent job. Luckily in the end she came to her senses.

The storyline was engaging, and I like that the suspense didn’t overshadow the romance.

There was additional romance between Val’s friend Megan, who is also a model, and Dirk who works with Ethan. Obviously this set the scene for the next book, so I’m looking forward to see how things are going to work out with them after Megan broke Dirk’s heart in this book.

I finally dove into Kat Martin!! I have had her on my TBR list forever, I even have a few of her books that I got from 2nd hand stores.

Why have I waited so long? No fucking idea. This was such a great story. The audio was great. The mystery went all the way through, and I will say I didn't guess it. There is some mild insta-love, but ya'll know I am here for that.

Both the characters were awesome, their chemistry had me from the get go. I loved the side storyline for book 2, but I can't wait for book 3.

This will definitely not be my last Kat Martin, if you have read her let me know what your favorite is.

This first in a new series by Kat Martin is chock full of action and brimming with sensuality...

REVIEW
Sworn off women due to a disastrous relationship with the mother of his young daughter, former Police officer, Ethan Brodie is cool, calculated and all business. But when the handsome P.I. takes on the job of protecting beautiful top models his reserve is shaken when he meets a woman like no other.

Valentine Hart is a complete contradiction. Outwardly flawless, this model hired by the LaBelle Lingerie Company is far more than meets the eye. This intelligent and articulate young lady has an agenda that has nothing to do with the modeling industry but she needs the LaBelle to achieve her goals. From the minute she meets Ethan Brodie, sparks fly, but his job is to protect the models from a major threat. It appears that some religious fanatic has singled out the LaBelle ladies and the notes sent to some of the models has the BOSS Inc. agency on high alert.

In as much a Ethan wants to steer clear of Val, he is drawn to her with every little detail he learns about the woman behind the pretty face. Val also sees Ethan for the man he is under his reluctant demeanor. As the danger heats up, so do their emotions for one another, but can Ethan keep her safe and at arm's length? Does he really want to? Hmmm, that's a mystery worth finding out in of itself.
Once Ethan and his BOSS team members investigate, they find that there is more going on than they ever could have anticipated and keeping these models out of danger is a full time job.

INTO THE FIRE (BOSS Inc. #1) by the incomparable Kat Martin is a story that will have the reader on edge and nail-biting the way through. Handsome and cocky, Ethan's character is strong and with depth. His personal woes have made him into a cynic, but not totally closed off to the right kind of stimulus. Val is exactly the kind of woman to bring Ethan around. Gorgeous but also intelligent, this hard working woman has a bright future ahead of her.

Kat Martin never fails to take a reader to places they have never been before. I for one, know when I grab one of her books, I am in for an adventure. So Kat, bring on the next great read!

I love when I find new authors to read and Martin just happens to be one of them. This is the first book I have read by her and wow I fell in love with fast paced world she has built.

Ethan is an ex homicide detective who is now working for his cousin who owns a bodyguard type business. He is brought in because some threatening letters were sent to 10 models. Since there is a big lingerie show coming up they are taking no chances. What Ethan didn't expect is to fall for Valentine.

Valentine is more then just a pretty face. She is only doing this to earn money to finish her degree to become a veterinarian. The last thing she has time for is a man in her life. But the more Ethan is around protecting her the more she wants him but first he has a killer to catch.

I really liked the plot and I wondered if Martin was watching the Victoria secret fashion show to get an idea for this book. :-) The descriptions of the models and materials they wore made it easy to picture everything.

The characters were just awesome and likable. In this books we meet so many characters sometimes it was hard to keep track but the main ones always ended up standing out which was a plus.

I really liked the mystery that was brought to the story. Who was this guy(s)? What did they want? It was all just so fast paced I didn't realize I was almost to the end of the story. Of course when it came to guessing the bad guys I only got it half right but it was the whole journey that was fun and exciting.

I am really looking forward to this series and I can't wait to see where Martin takes these new characters. In this book you meet the characters and the challenges they have in this book. Yippee! This is one romantic suspense series I am looking forward to in 2016!

Into The Fury is the first book in Kat Martin’s new ‘BOSS’ Romantic Suspense series. I had not read a Kat Martin book in a few years, and decided to try this, since it was the beginning of the RS series. The setup for the PI agency was intriguing, and the members of the protection firm sounded fun, if a little routine. Here we have Ethan Brodie, who has been assigned to watch over a group of lingerie models in the middle of a national tour. They are being threatened by menacing notes from an unknown source.

Sounds fun, and what could go wrong? Turns out, a lot; both in Ethan’s burgeoning (and forbidden) relationship with Valentine, one of the models, and in the story itself. I found myself skimming by the halfway mark, first a little, and then large chunks trying just to get to the end. Even at that, it took me four days to get through the book. There was absolutely nothing new here, and clichés abounded throughout the story. The climactic ending read more like a paramilitary OP gone wrong; and didn’t particularly fit in with the rest of the RS book.

Fans of Kat Martin will undoubtedly enjoy it, but for everyone else, be aware that there is nothing new here. It’s a retread of every trope to be found in this kind of novel. It wasn’t the worst of this kind of book I’ve ever read, it’s actually well written. It was just a routine, pedestrian storyline.

This book will not make you smarter, but will keep you entertained (sort of).

I've read a couple of romantic suspense books in the past, but I never really explored the genre. I like the idea of romantic suspense. The genre offers a great escape from the stress and monotony of reality and they are often a bit soapy, which is always a plus.

Into the Fury is smack dab in the 'average' range of the romantic suspense books I've read, but since I haven't read all that many, this opinion is subject to change.

We have Ethan Brodie, who is an ex-cop/homicide detective turned P.I./bodyguard/security expert. He's hired to act as the bodyguard for La Belle Lingerie's top 10 lingerie models while they go on a tour (think Victoria's Secret televised fashion show, but not as big). Brodie is not excited about the work gig because he's "off women" since he hates his ex and has a low opinion of lingerie models.

Well, his opinion quickly changes once he meets Valentine Hart.

Side Note: It wasn't until the 80% mark of this book that I stopped mentally pronouncing Valentine as Valen-teen. In my head, it was like the name 'Valentina' but with an 'e' at the end. No wonder I was confused as to why Ethan kept thinking Valentine's name sounded like a stripper. Her name is Valentine like the holiday. "Valentine Hart"..... I completely missed the cheesy pun name and had been calling the heroine the wrong name for the majority of the book.

Anyway, Valentine ("Val"), is a stunning, smart and friendly lingerie model. But she's not a *real* lingerie model. Val won some contest and got a 6-month contract, which is perfect because she needs the money from the contract to finish vet school.

While Ethan thinks Val is gorgeous, he wants nothing to do with her because all lingerie models are self-centered and vain airheads (there are his paraphrased thoughts, not mine). Once he realizes Val has more going on under her flawless skin, Ethan changes his tune.

There's a lot of hesitancy on both of their parts whether to commit or not mixed in between some fairly non-descript sex scenes and A LOT of boring details regarding the comings and goings of other characters and convoluted murder plots. The last 20-30% of the book really dragged with a lot of unnecessary details as to where cars were parked and the décor choices of the houses of Ethan's coworkers, so I engaged in some serious skimming to get to the HEA.

Overall, this book was decent. Ethan's alpha views were way too antiquated for my tastes. Before he even considers committing to Val, he's demanding she see no one else and lets it be known he would never be comfortable with a woman showing off her body for anyone but him. 👎👎

I would have preferred that Val didn't have that whole veterinarian side story and had only pursued modeling. I say this because Ethan only treated Val differently once he learned she was "more than just a model." Excuse me, but FUCK THAT. You can be a lingerie model and also be kind and smart and interesting. You can also be a lingerie model and be the opposite of kind and smart. What I'm saying is, a person's career does NOT define them. *If* a woman is lucky enough to find a job that is both fulfilling and provides financial independence then ALL POWER TO HER, because that is damn hard to find.

I would have loved to see Val shine in her modeling job and show Ethan (and alllllllllll the men out there like Ethan) that his opinion of lingerie models is wrong and unwarranted. Then, when Ethan realized his errors and apologized, Val would tell him to eat shit. Though, if she did that we would not have a very long story. 🤷‍♀️

In summary, women have it hard and don't need to be pigeon-holed, stereotyped or be made to feel guilty for whatever job they do to put money on the table.

Rant over. 2.5 stars.

I love Kat Martin and am such a huge fan of the Brodie brothers and their cousins that I am normally snared by their antics and the action that these books hold not to mention the romance. This book has all of them and is everything I could ask for in a book, however, I just didn't connect with it like I have in the past. I kept waiting for the gang to show up and part of them did but not in their normal flare. The action is great. The building to the relationship between Ethan and Val was great. It just missed the mark for me a little bit and I hate to write that because I am such a huge fan. That being said I will say this....read the book please and decide for yourself. I plan to reread it later on when life isn't quite so crazy around me. Don't let this review discourage you from the book. Thanks for reading my review. I received and ARC for an honest review.

Awesome read and a great beginning to a new series. It's a wonderful romance but it is filled with action and suspense as well. Great characters and pace make this one a must read!

Ethan Brodie is all kinds of hot and can be my bodyguard anytime! He's an ex-cop working personal security now. His current assignment proves to be interesting indeed. Protecting lingerie models is tough duty and the no fraternization policy might prove to be a problem. Especially when it comes to Valentine Hart! With a psycho leaving notes containing death threats he can't afford to be distracted!!

I highly recommend this one.

What in the world was THAT ? .. this book was absolute trash .. no chemistry, no connection, it's all about how horny Ethan and Val and how will they squeeze in the time to catch the killer between their make out sessions ..
The Story is about Ethan who is a cop and Val who is a Lingerie model and there is a killer who is trying to get Val and the other models, how will they stop the killer ? I don't know, UGH, really frustrated with this

ARC REVIEW

It’s all about the Brodies! Kat Martin continues on with the Brodie family with the start of the BOSS Inc. series. When I first read the synopsis for this book I kinda rolled my eyes, models and bodyguards sheesh. I do, however, love the forbidden romance that bodyguard romances have. What surprised me was the model aspect. Kat Martin created a lingerie company catering to women with bodies; all of its models have hourglass figures and are not what you would normally find on catwalk models. The heroine, Valentine Hart is not only beautiful enough to be a model but also studying to become a veterinarian and she is just the perfect sort of woman for Ethan Brodie.

Ethan Brodie has had enough of selfish insipid females; ever since his last girlfriend got pregnant and won’t let him see his daughter he has had enough of woman. His next job working for La Belle not only as a bodyguard but as an investigator, trying to find out who’s behind the nasty letter sent to the top ten models. Ethan has a preconceived idea about the models and is thrown for a loop when he meets Val Hart. La Belle has a strict No Fraternization policy, but Val just isn’t a normal model she is best friends with his cousin’s wife Samantha (Nick and Sam from Into the Tide) So Ethan has taken Val’s safety personally, especially since his feelings for Val go way deeper than he wants, way deeper then Val wants too. Falling in love was not in Val’s plans, she only signed the contract with La Belle so she could pay off her school bills and finally finish vet school, between modeling and school she just didn’t have the time to fall in love with Ethan, but her silly heart fell anyways.

In Seattle the letters are delivered proclaiming the models are all sinners and need to repent. The top model is murdered and a similar note is left. In Dallas there is another murder with a similar note left at the scene, but is it the original or a copy cat? Ethan investigates bring Val with him trusting only himself with her safety. In Atlanta there is another attack on one of the models and a hostage situation. After that the tour is canceled and everyone head back home to Seattle but it’s nowhere near over for Ethan and Val. And the mystery behind the letters is finally uncovered and their lives are at risk.

Gunfights, fistfights, sexy underwear, and an adorable little girl all help this new Brodie novel very worthwhile. And I can’t wait for Dirk’s book next.

Intense and riveting are two words that describe my reaction to this latest Kat Martin romantic suspense. Both the suspense and the romance are terrific. The character development of Val and Ethan was superb, as always with a Kat Martin work.

I'm very anxious to get the next one about Dirk and Megan.

I can usually count on Kat Martin to give me a solid, entertaining read. This one was not her best, but still kept me glued to my reader. I would give this 4 stars, but I found some annoying plot holes and really unbelievable actions by the main characters...so minus 1/2 star.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the characters but felt the mystery was fairly obvious. And I thoigjt the secondary romance was interesting but it was frustrating because it was in the book a bit too much to be secondary but not enough to be a full part of the story... If that makes any sense.

This book is a lot different than most books I read. When I was quite young, it was Harlequin Romances that burned the desire to read and the love of it with me. Then I branched out and started reading all types of books, and what a treat that has been.

Kat Martin introduces the members of Seattle’s Brodie Operations Security Services (BOSS) in a choppily told romantic thriller about the fierce protectiveness that the strong, handsome heroes feel toward beautiful, complicated women. After the high-class models of LaBelle Lingerie receive threatening notes that escalate to an actual murder, Ethan Brodie takes on the 24/7 protection of model Valentine Hart. The two quickly ignore BOSS’s no-fraternization rule under the pressures of close proximity and strong attraction. Martin draws her characters with little moral ambiguity. Her reliable men of action put themselves out to take care of their families while saving their women from villains and sleazeballs; the women worry about the dangerous nature of BOSS’s work, but fidelity is never in doubt. Plot shifts and revelations are unsatisfyingly abrupt for those whose focus is on the mystery side of the story, and the lack of repercussions for breaking the company’s rules leaves the reader with a sense that the story has been streamlined at the expense of reality.

A bodyguard, a bounty hunter, a P.I.--the men of Brodie Operations Security Service Inc. (BOSS) are down for the job...Your time is at hand: a faceless menace is threatening lingerie models on a cross country tour, and then Ethan Brodie is here to defend and protect.

Ethan's learned he hard way that beauty is no substitute for character. So even though Valentine Hart is one of the most breathtaking women he's ever seen, he's keeping his hands off and his eyes open.....or that's what he is telling himself.
Then one of the 10 models is murdered and the closer Ethan gets to the answers, the closer he finds himself to Valentine--and the hotter the pressure feels. There's more to Val--more to the other girls--than he could have guessed. But one is keeping a secret that could kill them all. Ethan also has a four year old daughter named Hannah, and she is an adorable little girl, one I sure would like to have. It was an enjoyable book. one that is a pleasant and enjoyable read. Recommend.

There's a lingerie model in trouble! GO GO GO!

This was pure guilty pleasure, and it hit its marks on action and romance. Val is a lingerie model, but of course, also has a troubled past and a heart of gold. Ethan has his own issues and doesn't think he's interested in love...which naturally means they will be together. The lingerie tour made for a fun backdrop to a pretty standard story. Props for making it clear what it takes to be a model: good genes, rigorous diet, 3 hours of training per day. This was a fun, light read.

Pet peeve: these men are supposed to be good at protecting people, yet murder and attacks ensued. There wouldn't have been much of a book if baddies hadn't been able to get through, but maybe it shouldn't have seemed so easy.

Probably closer to 3.5 stars. Good read overall. Plot was good, some of it predictable, some with surprises. The setting (Seattle mostly) made me homesick to the extreme.

There was definitely some overall suspense with the killer and search, but some of the story dragged on or rambled a bit and that made it hard for me to stay focused. I definitely felt Ethan and Val's chemistry, but their backgrounds and their 'relationship conflict' seemed a little stretched to me.

I still enjoyed the book and plan to read the other two in the Seattle Boss, Inc. series.

The opening sentence in this book sets the stage for gripping suspense and action as well as a sweet romance and is an exciting start to the BOSS, Inc. series.

Ethan Brodie's experience with his ex-girlfriend has soured him on the thought of relationships, especially with very beautiful and high maintenance women. When he takes on an assignment to provide security for lingerie models on the receiving end of death threats, Ethan's resolve takes a major hit once he sets his eyes on gorgeous model Valentine Hart and no matter how hard he tries, he can't fight his attraction to her. When one of the models is killed, Valentine's safety becomes Ethan's number one priority and not even the possibility of losing the security contract will keep him away from her.

Valentine (aka Valerie Hartman) took on the modeling job to fund vet school, but she is in no way prepared for the cutthroat world of modeling and being the target of a deranged stalker. Even with their less than friendly start she trusts Ethan to keep her safe, but she can't wait to finish out her contract. Unfortunately for Val, things are not going her way because her promotion to the position of the brand spokeswoman means she's getting drawn further into a web of deceit, danger and intrigue, and she'll need Ethan's skills to stay alive.

I was eager to read this book from the very moment I saw the cover and I wasn't disappointed. The characters draw you in completely into the roller coaster ride of suspense, intrigue and even emotional entanglements. I enjoyed Val and Ethan and especially loved how Val kept him off balance. She is smart, strong and very assertive but she's also very aware of her limitations and is willing to let Ethan take the lead on keeping her safe. I loved Ethan's protectiveness of Val and that he realized how special she was without letting his past affect how he felt about her much.
The suspense was well-written and kept me guessing the identity of the perpetrators, as well as their motives. Gunfights, action and sexy models make for interesting times in this this book. However, I have to say that the first part of the book dragged quite a lot for me and it took me a while to get through but once the action picked up, it was non-stop and kept me engrossed, with the added bonus of setting the scene for the next book in the series.

I'll recommend this book to anyone who loves a blend of romantic suspense and contemporary romance.

I believe that this is my first Kat Martin book but I know that it won't be my last! I was so excited to start reading this one because I've been on a bit of a "bodyguard book" binge lately. This one most certainly did not disappoint and I think it may be my favorite so far this year. Or ever, actually.

This story has a lot of layers to it. That wasn't something that I was expecting. It was very deep ... there were quite a few different story-lines going on at the same time and while that bogs down a novel more often than not, it didn't this time. It only added to the drama that was happening between Val and Ethan and the bad dude(or dudette). I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of Val at first. Not as a character but as the heroine of a novel. She seemed so ... meh ... at first. I just didn't get it. But a few chapters in, I got it. And then I loved her and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. She's a pretty interesting character and I loved how strong and independent she was. There did come a time when that strong woman started changing into this wimpy girl and while I wanted to get irritated with the character change especially since I was so fond of the almost superwoman complex she seemed to have, I just couldn't. The author wrote it so that it seemed like it was a natural progression and it was okay.

Ethan. Oh, he was a bit of a mess. In a good way! I loved how he had this semi-screwed-up life and was trying his damnedest to fix it. He was actually more patient than I would have been. I would have lost my shit over his issues long ago. His character was strong and masculine and ruggedly handsome ... just what I wanted to read about. A man's man. I loved getting to know him and experiencing the ... tests ... that he was put through. It was actually kinda sweet the way that Val made him squirm. It made him that much more endearing.

I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the book. There were quite a few twists and turns that I hadn't expected in there. I did pick out the bad guy pretty early on but while I was so sure at first that I was right, the author made me question myself more than once and by the end I was still surprised.

I liked the secondary stories that were going on also because it amped up my excitement for the next book ... which I have to have because it's about Meg and Dirk!! Great book and an awesome introduction into what is probably going to be one of my favorite series.

Into the Fury is the first book in the BOSS, Inc. series. It is also the spinoff of Kat Martin's popular The Brodies of Alaska series.

Ethan Brodie works for his family's security firm and has been assigned to protect several lingerie models who have been receiving threats letters from an unknown source. Shortly thereafter, Ethan begins to notice Valentine Hart. Both Ethan and Valentine are attracted to each other but are unwilling to act anything out for their own reason. Well trying to avoid each other and keep a professional relationship, Ethan receives a personal request to keep a closer eye on Valentine since she is a close friend of a family member. Ethan is determined to honour this request and keep everything as professional as possible.

Throughout the novel, Ethan's and Valentine's expectations for one another are challenged over time. The more time they spend together the more they realize that they can not resist whatever they feel. As the danger increases with the death of one of the models, they will both have to fight to survive.

The romance between both Ethan Brodie and Valentine Hart was delightful to read. Especially since there was a no-sex clause in their contracts. The way that their relationship grew was rather exciting. They had to keep their hands off each other due to their jobs but one can only fight for so long. As lines were crossed and feelings were explored, both Ethan and Val seemed to be drawing me into the novel as they ventured to find romance with one another.

It was not only the romance that seemed to find a hook into me but also the action. The mystery of who could be behind these threats had me on edge. Especially when almost all of the characters were likeable.

One of the things I did have a difficult time with when reading this novel has to be the amount of characters that were introduced. As the novel continued to progress and I was about 75% through the novel, I started to have a hard time keeping track of who was who. Other than that, this story was rather interesting and totally worth checking out.

If you enjoy reading mystery, suspense, and romance mixed all together than this novel is for you.

Rating:
★★★★

This was the first book in the author's new BOSS, Inc. series. It is a spinoff of her popular Brodies of Alaska series. Having read and enjoyed books 1 and 3 in that series, I was happily familiar with a few of the secondary characters who popped up in this story. Nick was a particular favorite.

Nick's cousin, Ethan, is the focus of this book. He works personal protection for his family's security firm and has just been assigned to protect several top lingerie models who have received threatening letters. Shortly after starting the assignment, Ethan notices Valentine Hart. He is immediately attracted to her but has his own reasons for avoiding beautiful women...all women really. Valentine is also attracted to Ethan, but she has goals to accomplish, and a relationship would just get in the way. Though she and Ethan set out to avoid each other, Ethan receives a personal request to keep a closer eye on Valentine since she is a close friend of a family member. Ethan takes family seriously and determines to honor the request.

As the danger ramps up with the death of one of the other models, Ethan finds himself needing to be ever closer to Valentine. The more time he spends with her, the more he realizes she doesn't fit the preconceived notions he had about her based on her appearance and profession. Both he and Valentine soon lose the ability to resist each other, and things get downright steamy. The connection between them grows quickly, but the killer is not ready to give up. Just his association with Valentine puts Ethan's life in danger too. In the end, they will both have to fight to survive.

I liked the storyline and the familiar characters. I also enjoyed the secondary storyline involving Dirk and Meg. I'm glad they will be featured in book 2, and I look forward to checking it out.

I received and ARC from Net Galley for review.

Ethan has been assigned as body guard for the La Belle Lingerie models as they travel the country. Someone has been sending their top models threatening letters and Ethan, also ex-PI, makes it his mission to solve this mystery. While on the job, he meets Valerie, a model and student veterinarian, and develops feelings for her. Valerie also cares for Ethan but feels his life is too different from hers to have a future. As the treats become more dangerous, the two are forced together and are forced to face their feelings head on.

After reading the synopsis of this book, I was intrigued. Hot, alpha hero thrown together with a lingerie model, what’s not to like? The story has a fair amount going on. There’s more than one bad guy, which I felt was a bit overdone, as there was no relation between the two. In this, the reader is expected to suspend belief a bit, because, really? Who’s that unlucky? If the author had kept to one villain, the story could have been chopped down to size, as it did begin to drag a bit during the large middle portion. Add to the suspense element, a lot of characters to remember and we also have the ex-girlfriend and their daughter. While the two don’t have a large part in the story, it’s one more complication for Ethan to worry about. There’s also the side story of Ethan’s partner and his burgeoning relationship with another of the models. While Kat Martin does a good job keeping everything in order, I did have a few moments where I forgot who was who.

When you get down to the heart of it, this is a good book, it just needs to be simplified and shortened with editing.

My thanks to Net Galley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for the opportunity to read and review Into the Fury by Kat Martin.
