Rate this book
The chilling prose of Karin Slaughter meets the high-stakes plotting of The Butcher and the Wren in a dark debut following three normal sisters, their own forgotten traumas, and the serial killer that lives within one, begging the question can you ever truly recognize the evil around you?

Three sisters. One killer. Which one is SHE?

The Rowling sisters have always been people you can understand – with partners and children, homes and dreams. And secrets, the sisters have those too. But when Kate, the eldest, finally returns to buy her late grandfather's home, the dark things each sister has kept buried soon rise to the surface.

Is Kate having unexplained visions tied to a past she can hardly recall? Is Aurora, the married mother of two, finally acting out in the face of her sisters' indiscretions? Is Peggy, the youngest and a recovering addict, able to move on from the memories that haunt her?

And then there's SHE.

SHE is one of them, but SHE is not like them at all. SHE is defined only by the carnage she lets the world see, the murders that have swept through their coastal community. And as the police close in on their newest serial killer, scrutiny lands on the Rowlings, forcing them to face their demons and reveal all they have kept hidden.

Let me just say this right now, this book is dark. I think this is the perfect book for fans of dark crime.

Three sisters, one killer. Peggy, Aurora and Kate. Then we get a POV from SHE. Your job is to find out who she is.

The past traumas are a huge factor here. There’s trigger warnings galore. You’ve been warned.

Thank you poisoned pen press for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

Pub date: June 3 2025

Throughout this story we get a POV from each sister and a 4th POV from the one who is a killer and we’re trying to figure out which of them it is.

Right away I had my theory and I never wavered in my belief of who it was. I didn’t have all the answers but I knew who it was the whole time.

Regardless of me knowing exactly who it was, I still found this story really interesting. The dynamics of the sisters getting over deep traumas of the past, paired with the everyday obstacles and changes in their lives was compelling. There were tidbits of background thrown in throughout that gave could lead a reader to believe a depraved serial killer lived within any of them.

I found the overall reveal, reasoning, and resolution to be satisfying and it left me feeling like I wanted to hug my sister.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, K.D. Aldyn, and Poisoned Pen Press for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Always excited to get my hands on the novel of an author I have yet to discover, I was delighted to get my hands on this piece by K.D. Aldyn. A dark and captivating story about three sisters and one’s sadistic plan is sure to pull the reader into the middle of this piece, while leaving them questioning everything until the final page turn. K.D. Aldyn surely makes her mark with this piece, forcing the reader to decide how they feel about it all.

The Rowling sisters have always been quite personable and well respected in their community. Their family lives are the talk of those around them, but the sisters also have secrets locked away. Some begin to emerge when the eldest, Kate, returns to take ownership of their grandfather’s home. The buried secrets poke out and things turn sinister once again.

Kate tries to make sense of the visions she has from her past. Aurora, the mother of two, has only shards of recollections regarding what the sisters did in their youth. What about Peggy, a recovering addict with skeletons of her own, who can hardly piece together her day to day routine? Nothing is clear as things slink towards the sinister.

Amongst them is a killer, whose brutal acts leave men in a bloody pulp and begging for their lives. One of the Rowling women has taken to luring men to her and killing them in the most horrible fashions. Who it might be is anyone’s guess, but that darker side must be held in check or everything else could cause ruin. K.D. Aldyn surely makes her mark and serves up a chilling piece.

I usually enjoy a good piece of crime thriller fiction, especially if there is an element of horror involved. K.D. Aldyn creates a piece that pulls on all key aspects and presents them in an impactful novel. The narrative moves along and gains momentum from the outset. While I could not connect as well as I might have liked, some will surely enjoy the story’s progression. Characters were also well placed and, for some, easily relatable. I felt a disconnect and lack of empathy for the Rowling women, but can see how many might enjoy them. The plot inched forward and proved chilling for some, which I hope works well for many readers. For me, it was a decent effort that lacked the ability grab me by the neck and shake things about!

Kudos, Madam Aldyn, for a valiant effort that I hope others find even more alluring than I did.

Kate, Aurora, and Peggy are just your average sisters. They don’t always get along—in fact Aurora may never forgive Peggy for what she did. Oh, also, one of them may be a serial killer…

When Kate purchases her grandfather’s old home that the girls grew up in, she is elated but Aurora and Peggy are skeptical. The house has its pleasant memories, certainly, but its halls are also filled with dark memories that threaten to take hold of the sisters’ present lives. When a string of murders occurs, suspicion turns toward the Rowling sisters causing old, buried secrets to rise to the surface and forcing the sisters to face their past.

In Sister, Butcher, Sister readers receive a viewpoint from the killer—simply narrated as “she”—which was interesting but some of the scenes could be quite gruesome. Aside from the murders and all, there is something clearly worrisome going on with the sisters and the tantalizing prose forced me to keep reading in the beginning but I started to lose steam around the 40% mark.

The passage of time is difficult to keep track of in this book; a clearer timeline could have led to less confusion for the reader. In addition, there were parts where it seemed like the author was struggling to get to what they wanted to say leading to an uneven reading experience and a lack of flow. Wordy in places; this could have easily been trimmed down to a tighter, more concise story.

For me, just an ok story that needed a lot more work. The author seems like a good writer but I don’t think that their full potential is on display here so it will be interesting to see what they do moving forward. This was a page turner I desperately wanted to know who the killer was. Three sisters , one killer , who is She? This book is told through multiple POV’s including that of the very disturbed gruesome killer. We follow along all three sisters lives currently and things they had experienced as children good and horrible.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for a complimentary early release copy of Sister, Butcher, Sister by KD Aldyn.

I found Sister, Butcher, Sister to be a decent/okay kind of read. The characters were interesting to follow and I’m happy that we got perspectives from multiple people during the story as it added an extra element of “who am I to trust” or “what happened”. I liked the sisters and I found their life’s to be interesting, I even liked a few of the love interest for the sisters. The plot and characters kept me invested but I wish a few things had played out differently.

This thriller is certainly one of the darkest ones that I have read but I didn’t really like the perspective of “She”. The timeline of the story also tended to jump around mid chapter sometimes making things confusing to follow. While I didn’t guess the ending I’m a little disappointed by how things had played out in the end, I wish we would have gotten just a little bit more between the sisters. If you have any triggers I highly suggest looking up trigger warnings before reading, there are lots of heavy subjects and gore included in this book.

Sister, Butcher, Sister by KD Aldyn is a psychological thriller about three sisters who each see their past differently.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Poisoned Pen Press, and the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A warning.  There is a lot of graphic violence and sexual scenes in this book.  Neither of these bothered me, but I am sure others may take offence.  A few problems....Sometimes the pacing was a little off. There also seemed to be a bit of repetition, and sometimes the author got a little wordy.    That being said, she could have expanded a little on the ending.

Okay, after all that, I really enjoyed this book.  I loved the intricate relationships between the three sisters, and loved how very different their memories of the past were.  I think that really rang true.  People can see the same event very differently.

The story is told from multiple points of view, including that of the killer.  This worked really well, and although I was proven right in my "guess" as to the perpetrator, it really could have been anyone.  It was truly a mystery.

I was fully engaged throughout.  It was a very dark, yet very entertaining read with complex characters, and a rather creepy feel about it.  I loved it.

Anyway, until next time....

”Don’t you think women are capable of evil?”

Sister, Butcher Sister is a twisty family drama with a sinister hidden edge. The three Rowling sisters each have their own baggage, and as secrets unravel and suspicions rise, you can’t help but wonder who to trust - or fear.

”That house; Grandpa’s house. There were things rattling around there that didn’t deserve air”

The eerie setting and creepy vibes kept me hooked until the last page, but the pacing felt a bit stuck in a loop at times, like it was circling the same scenes over and over again.
The ending was not as satisfying as I wanted it to be and I do wish the author explored the mysteries revealed a little bit more. With that being said, the story still delivers great dollops of mystery and it was extremely satisfying to see the pieces fall into place and the killer’s motives revealed.

A thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

Told from the POV of three sisters- Kate, Aurora and Peggy. One of which is a killer, told from the POV of SHE.

Can you figure out which of the sisters is a serial killer?

There is a lot of trauma to unpack with this one and if you can get past the slow burn of it, it’s a well written psychological thriller about the secrets siblings hold. Check the context warning ahead of time if you have any triggers!

The story unravels the lives of each sister, giving you a glimpse into their memories growing up. The SHE chapters are dark and you will know you are in a SHE chapter pretty quickly!

I did have to pay extra attention to which chapter was focused on which sister. The chapter typically started with a name to give you the heads up.

Thank you to author, KD Aldyn, Publisher Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Female serial kill in the family. Three sister but you don’t know which of the unstable women it is.
This story had me locked in from the beginning. You get all three sisters POV’s and the killer’s too. There is a lot of family drama dragged up and repressed memories. I found this story to be very entertaining and fast paced. Such a fantastic debut author. I can’t wait to read more of their books.
This is a darker story with many trigger warnings.

I gotta say, as a crime scene investigator, I feel embarrassed that I guessed the wrong suspect in this book 🙄 otherwise, I did enjoy this book and the pace with which it could be read. I enjoyed how the author gave little hints that made you think the killer could be any one of the three sisters, but then would hint at something else and make you doubt yourself all over again. I have three stars because I felt the ending, after the killer was revealed, was anticlimactic. The book just ended. I would have enjoyed a little more explanation into the killers psyche, but overall a very solid read!

Three sisters. One of them is a killer. But which one?

This story unfolds with an eerie slow burn that is tension filled. The chapters shift perspectives in a way that keeps you guessing. While I had my suspensions, the ending reveal still hit hard.

⚠️ Trigger warning for graphic violence, sexual assault, and other trauma-related content. ⚠️

Three sisters. One killer. And way too many secrets.

When Kate moves into her grandfather’s old house, it brings her closer to her sisters—and dangerously close to buried memories. As a serial killer targets men in brutal, gory ways, we get chilling POVs from all three sisters… and the killer.

This book surprised me in all the best (and bloodiest) ways. I wasn’t expecting the level of gore, but I’m not complaining—it added to the intensity and psychological unease that builds throughout. While the pacing started off a little slow, it quickly hooked me. The tension builds beautifully, and the psychological twists had me constantly second-guessing everything. I suspected each sister at some point.

This is a dark, bloody, and deeply psychological read that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Thank you to the author K.D. Aldyn, Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley for the ARC.

A good read.
Three sisters. One killer. Which one is SHE? With this chilling tagline, KD plunges readers into a gripping psychological thriller where familial bonds, buried secrets, and unrelenting suspense collide.
Likes :-
1 Unique Narrative Style: The alternating perspectives between the three sisters—Kate, Aurora, and Peggy—and the enigmatic SHE create an addictive, layered narrative. The ambiguity of SHE’s identity keeps readers on edge, constantly re-evaluating their suspicions.
2 Complex Characters:
a) Kate: The reluctant returnee grappling with unsettling visions tied to a fractured past. Her storyline adds a haunting, almost supernatural layer to the mystery.
b) Aurora: The seemingly perfect sister whose cracks reveal suppressed frustrations and simmering rage.
c) Peggy: The youngest sibling, whose battle with addiction provides both vulnerability and strength, making her arc deeply emotional.
Dislikes:-
1 Pacing: The first half of the book is slower, focusing heavily on character development and backstory. While this pays off in the latter half, some readers might find the buildup too drawn out.
Overall:- This is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and family dramas with a sinister edge. With its haunting prose and shocking twists, Sister Butcher Sister is sure to leave readers breathless and questioning how well they really know those closest to them.

“She imagined herself literally f*cking them to death, these poor excuses for human beings, and the excitement of such thoughts would lead to the fantasy of sucking their blood. She loved the metallic taste of it, its viscous qualities.”

“She would find the bastard and show him a thing or two. She’d carve her initials into his body, swim in his blood. Drink it. She’d change his views on Women Who Kill.”

I went into this one blind and that was a great decision. Some jaw dropping quotes and the cover is so pretty. The girls’ upbringing maybe became long winded through the middle but overall I had a good ass time with this one. The “SHE” POV chapters were so unhinged and my favourite. Solid, dark thriller debut. Recommend for some stabby fem rage vibes!

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press & KD Aldyn for this read!

This book is dark and graphic- just how I like my thrillers. Told through 3 POVs, one sister holds a secret inside and through the book us readers go back and fourth figuring out who is the guilty one.

The plot was really good and I was really invested in finding out the truth. It was a little on the slow side and I did find sometimes the voices of each 3 sisters started to fade into eachother.

K.D. Aldyn's debut psychological thriller "Sister, Butcher, Sister" introduces readers to the Rowling sisters through a deceptively simple premise: Kate's purchase of their deceased grandfather's coastal home. What begins as a nostalgic homecoming quickly descends into a labyrinthine exploration of buried trauma, fractured memories, and the terrifying realization that evil can wear the most familiar faces.

The novel opens with Kate standing outside number thirty-six, finally achieving her dream of reclaiming the family property. Aldyn immediately establishes an atmosphere of unease beneath the surface sentimentality, as Kate experiences disturbing blackouts and fragmented visions that seem connected to her childhood. This masterful introduction sets the tone for a narrative that consistently subverts expectations, revealing that sometimes the most dangerous predators are those closest to us.

Three Sisters, Three Perspectives, One Devastating Truth
Kate: The Ambitious Eldest

Kate emerges as the driving force of the narrative, a successful lawyer whose determination to reclaim her grandfather's house masks deeper psychological wounds. Aldyn crafts Kate as a complex protagonist whose professional competence contrasts sharply with her personal vulnerabilities. Her mysterious blackouts and fragmented memories serve as both plot device and psychological study, illustrating how trauma can fragment identity and perception.

The author's portrayal of Kate's relationship with Detective Nick Timms creates genuine tension, as readers witness Kate's growing paranoia about police surveillance while simultaneously questioning whether her fears are justified or symptomatic of her deteriorating mental state.

Aurora: The Perfect Wife and Mother

Aurora represents the facade of domestic perfection that conceals profound darkness. Aldyn skillfully develops Aurora's character through her passion for the harp and her meticulous attention to family life, creating a character who initially appears to be the most stable of the three sisters. The revelation of Aurora's past affair with artist Arnaud adds layers to her character, suggesting that even the "good girl" harbors secrets and desires that challenge her carefully constructed identity.

The author's decision to reveal Aurora as the serial killer represents both the novel's greatest strength and its most controversial element. While the twist is genuinely shocking, some readers may find the transformation from devoted mother to calculating murderer difficult to reconcile, despite the childhood trauma that serves as motivation.

Peggy: The Survivor

Peggy's character arc provides perhaps the most nuanced exploration of trauma and recovery in the novel. As a recovering addict and survivor of the false memory syndrome that destroyed their grandfather's reputation, Peggy embodies resilience while struggling with legitimate fears about her own mental stability. Aldyn handles Peggy's pregnancy and her relationship with Denton with sensitivity, showing how love and family can provide healing while trauma continues to cast long shadows.

The Architecture of Horror: Setting and Atmosphere

Aldyn demonstrates remarkable skill in using the grandfather's coastal home as both sanctuary and site of horror. The house functions as a character in its own right, holding memories and secrets within its walls. The author's descriptions of the renovated kitchen, the preserved sewing room, and the grandfather clock create a tactile sense of place that grounds the psychological horror in physical reality.

The coastal Australian setting provides an appropriately isolated backdrop for the unfolding terror. Aldyn uses the landscape effectively, from the rocky beaches where bodies are discovered to the suburban streets where the sisters navigate their daily lives under police surveillance. The contrast between the idyllic coastal community and the brutal murders occurring within it creates a constant sense of unease.

Exploring Trauma Through Multiple Lenses

The novel's most ambitious element is its exploration of how childhood sexual abuse reverberates through adult lives in vastly different ways. Aldyn doesn't shy away from the complexity of trauma responses, showing how the same horrific experiences can manifest as addiction, dissociation, or murderous rage. The revelation that Senator Niles Hemingway—"Papa"—was the perpetrator adds a layer of social commentary about power, privilege, and the protection afforded to influential predators.

However, the connection between Aurora's childhood trauma and her evolution into a serial killer occasionally feels tenuous. While Aldyn provides psychological justification through Aurora's fractured memories and the song "Oh, My Darling Clementine" that triggers her violent episodes, some readers may find the leap from victim to perpetrator inadequately developed.

Technical Craft and Narrative Structure

Aldyn employs multiple perspectives effectively, shifting between the three sisters and occasional glimpses into the killer's mindset. This structure allows readers to experience each character's distinct voice while building toward the shocking revelation. The author's background appears to inform the authentic portrayal of legal proceedings and police investigation techniques, adding credibility to the procedural elements.

The pacing occasionally suffers during the middle sections, particularly during some of Kate's therapy sessions with Dr. Freud, where exposition sometimes overwhelms narrative momentum. However, Aldyn recovers admirably in the final act, building to a climax that feels both inevitable and surprising.

Critical Assessment: Strengths and Limitations
What Works Exceptionally Well
Character Development: Each sister feels fully realized with distinct motivations and voices
Atmospheric Setting: The coastal Australian location becomes integral to the story's mood
Trauma Representation: Thoughtful exploration of how abuse affects different individuals
Plot Construction: Clever misdirection keeps readers guessing until the final revelation
Areas for Improvement
Pacing Issues: Some middle sections feel unnecessarily prolonged
Psychological Believability: Aurora's transformation occasionally stretches credibility
Supporting Characters: Some secondary characters feel underdeveloped
Resolution: The ending, while dramatic, leaves some psychological questions unanswered
The Horror Elements: Effective Without Exploitation

Aldyn handles the horror elements with restraint, focusing more on psychological terror than graphic violence. When violence does occur, it serves the story rather than indulging in gratuitous shock value. The descriptions of crime scenes are sufficiently disturbing to convey the killer's depravity without becoming exploitative, a balance that elevates the work above typical slasher fiction.

Final Verdict: A Promising Debut with Lasting Impact

"Sister, Butcher, Sister" announces K.D. Aldyn as a significant new voice in psychological thriller fiction. While the novel occasionally stumbles under the weight of its ambitions, it succeeds brilliantly as an exploration of how family secrets can poison relationships across generations. The shocking revelation of Aurora's identity as the killer will likely divide readers, but the emotional truth of the sisters' relationships and their shared trauma creates a foundation of authenticity that supports even the most extreme plot developments.

This debut establishes Aldyn as an author to watch, demonstrating both the technical skill to craft a complex mystery and the emotional intelligence to explore difficult themes with sensitivity. Despite minor pacing issues and occasional lapses in psychological credibility, "Sister, Butcher, Sister" delivers a reading experience that will linger long after the final page, forcing readers to question their assumptions about the people closest to them and the secrets we all carry.

I’m so grateful to have scored an advanced reader's copy of Sister Butcher Sister from Sourcebooks!

K.D. Aldyn’s debut absolutely blew me away. As a naturally slow reader, it’s rare for me to finish a book quickly—but this one held my attention the entire way through. The chapters are short yet impactful, balancing quick pacing with thoughtful character development. Aldyn masterfully weaves in just the right amount of detail, all leading to a twist that lands perfectly without feeling forced.

By the end, I felt like I intimately knew all three sisters—each one relatable, raw, and layered with emotions that feel so familiar.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys darker suspense, especially thrillers that focus more on family dynamics and psychological depth rather than a traditional "whodunit" structure. Sister Butcher Sister is a haunting, beautifully crafted story that lingers long after the last page.

Sister, Butcher, Sister is a sinister family drama full of secrets, sibling dysfunction, and slow-burning suspense. The story centers on the three Rowling sisters — Kate, Aurora, and Peggy — who reunite at their childhood home after Kate buys it back. But what should be a nostalgic reconnection quickly turns unsettling as old traumas resurface and a string of murders raises one chilling question: is one of them a killer?

Told partly through the killer’s perspective — simply narrated as “she” — the book weaves in a dark, eerie tone that hooked me early on. I especially enjoyed the disturbing atmosphere and psychological undercurrent, which made for a compelling start.

However, the pacing lagged in the middle. Scenes began to feel repetitive, looping over similar conversations and internal monologues without enough progression. There’s a sense that the story gets lost in its own fog. The timeline was also confusing at times, which pulled me out of the narrative.

The killer’s motives and final reveals were satisfying overall, but I wish the twists had been explored with more depth. Several threads felt underdeveloped, and the ending didn’t quite land with the impact I hoped for.

Still, the core mystery was engaging, and the complicated bond between the sisters added emotional weight to the plot.

Three sisters with forgotten memories of their pasts are forced to face their deepest traumas in this upcoming release, Sister, Butcher, Sister.

The title and cover of this book immediately drew me in, and I was so excited to receive an advance copy. We follow three sisters - Kate, Aurora, and Peggy - whose blurry memories of their childhood with their parents and grandpa are slowly being drawn to the present as a serial killer is ravaging the town in which they live. The concept? Absolutely fascinating. The execution of it? I had a hard time following, if I'm being honest. Almost the entire narrative is an exploration of telling readers what happened instead of showing them, so it was hard for me to picture what was going on or to get super invested. The plot was stagnant a lot of the time because of this, which made it a challenge to feel the intense emotions that often come with a book of this nature. There were some really heavy topics dealt with in this book, but the impact at the end was anticlimactic because of how the rest of it was set up.

Content warning for murder, graphic violence, body horror, sexual content, sexual assault/pedophilia, parental abuse.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of Sister, Butcher, Sister by KD Aldyn.

Well to start I finished this is one go- which I always consider complimentary. The author does a great job of peaking my curiosity. I just wish I hadn’t felt so starved for information most of the time. I would’ve liked less of our murder’s pov’s, and more building of tension in present time. Eventually those pov’s felt repetitive and less effective as a result. I was like ‘okay girl you’re really messed up. And you LOVE killing men. Now give me some information or plot I can use!’ It’s like with creature feature movies, sometimes the less you see the monster- the scarier it is in your mind.
Definitely got some karin slaughter vibes going here but I grew weary of some cliches and formulaic scenes. (Enough creepy folk songs!) As well as getting really fatphobic and haterish in the middle there, don’t really see how it was necessary, but our narrator wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of morality anyways. I was pleased with the ending, despite being rushed. Overall I liked this book well enough but it had potential to be better. *Please check tw’s in the beginning if you pick this one up.

My final book of 2024 and what a book to end on 🙌

When I first started this book, I was confused 🤷🏼‍♀️ I found it tricky to follow as I didn't really know what I was following. It went straight into the storyline, which I found a little confusing. However, once I'd got to grips with all the characters, I devoured this book! I found every opportunity to pick it up and read it!

It is fast-paced with multiple POVs, it is quite gory which I absolutely love, the more gory the better 🙌 I loved following the story of Kate, Aurora and Peggy and how their haunting past was coming back to them and trying to piece it all together - what was a dream? What, if any of it, was real? Along with seeing how the characters developed and how their personal lives developed outside of the main storyline.

This book keeps you hooked and is a brilliant read! The only thing stopping me from giving this book 5⭐️ was the slower start, for me personally.

Sister Butcher Sister was a wild ride from start to finish. At different points in the book you feel deep empathy for each sister, then almost immediately after you feel suspicious of each one of them as well. The first half of this book is a little bit slower, but it really picks up at the end. Three sisters, all with deep and dark secrets that they can’t even fully remember - and one of them is a serial killer. But which sister is it?

I really liked the addition of the “She” perspective in this book. I feel like it helped me as a reader see how unhinged the killer was becoming without ruining the plot twist of which sister is the serial killer. I found myself sucked into this story, and wanted to drop everything else to read it and find out who was behind the murders.

Chilling and deeply unsettling!

The Rowling sisters are someone’s neighbor, friend, or coworker. They are average women living ordinary lives. But all three sisters have dark secrets, forgotten trauma buried deep inside. When one sister buys her late grandfather’s house, all that normalcy begins to crumble. Because as the sisters spend more time in their childhood home, the sinister memories come back to the surface, remembered, and threaten the unassuming lives they all have curated. For one sister, that means murder. But which one is SHE?

This story is told in multiple POVs and alternating timelines. I found this to be a slow burn and a solid debut. Please check trigger warnings as this novel is DARK with graphic and disturbing scenes. Readers who are looking for their next female serial killer thriller may enjoy this one.

Thank you Netgalley and Poison Pen Press for allowing me the opportunity to read this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book.

This story is told on multiple point of views which made the serial killer part more intriguing. There are detailed sexual content which made it feel like a different genre but the storyline was more thriller based. Some parts of the storyline was a little hard to follow, making the timeline get a little confusing at times. The mystery of which sister is the killer is the reason that keeps you wanting to find out more and who it is. I did personally have a hard time with some of the history’s and felt that some details lead you to think one thing but didn’t clarify what was actually happening. What was reality vs imagination? I think that was the missing link for me to score this book higher.

This book is not for you if you cannot handle gore, sexual content, child abuse, sexual violence/assault, discussion of rape, etc.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dark, twisty, and deeply unsettling—in the best way.

Sister, Butcher, Sister by KD Aldyn is a gripping psychological thriller that pulls you into a shadowy world of fractured identities and sibling secrets. The writing is vivid and cinematic, with an eerie tension that builds steadily until the final, jaw-dropping reveal.

I loved how the story explored the thin line between love and obsession, and how trauma can twist even the closest relationships. The atmosphere is haunting, the characters complex, and the pacing keeps you turning pages late into the night.

Perfect for fans of psychological horror with emotional depth and a sharp edge. I’ll definitely be watching for whatever KD Aldyn writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC and the opportunity to read and review this chilling novel

This one had quite the engaging premise.
Three sisters who face the loss of their father, and another point of view told by a killer of men. I loved the vengeance filled scenes the most! However, the way this was written was all over the place. The timeline was consistently difficult to nail down and it truly felt almost unedited. I adored the story and the sisters, I just wish it had made more sense within the scope of the plot and the story told.
With some things regarding the timeline tightened up, l'd have rated this one so much higher.
Thanks so much to the author and publisher for the eARC!
