With a few relatives having been in hospice care, i was not sure if this book would convey what we went through. It was so incredibly well written, with compassion and respect. Hadley would be a nurse I would want to care for me or any other family member that needed hospice.
Her respect for each patient she helped make the transition was so heart warming. The way she led us through her journey on becoming a hospice nurse added just the right personal touch.
I wanted to read more.
If you have or no anyone who has experienced the type of hospice care Hadley provided know what she speaks of is true.
Well written, in no way a negative book, just truly inspirational and heart warming, in spite of the fact it is a book about dying.

I’m not sure what it says about me to be the kind of person who reads a hospice book on her honeymoon (I know what it says this is my love- holding people together while they lose those who matter most) but Hadley did an amazing job of articulating what it’s like for folks as they watch someone pass, and that no matter our backgrounds, beliefs or life choices, dying is a universal experience. Her personal take on life, guilt over the way her MIL passed because it didn’t follow Hadley’s personal plan for her, and her ability to listen to understand, are valuable. Death is such a taboo subject because we don’t want to think about it- but how better to be prepared for the inevitable anyways, in Hadley’s candid way that makes the dreaded “H word” less scary.
