Review of first volume
Hah, that was funny and cute read. But there is a mystery about Miketsukami)
By the way, Miketsukami is so cutely annoying! ) LOL, I would like to have one of that kitsune types)
Riricho was also cute and despite her harsh tongue, she has delicate heart.
There is so much funny characters- lesbian and gay people and also cute future-couple Roromiya&Watanuki))
And the artwork is gorgeous too!
Review of whole manga
4.0☆
I liked that it has a beautiful ending.
The powerful side of this manga was surely its lovely characters)) Soushi Miketsukami, Ririchiyo Shirakin, Renshou, Nobara, Kageoru, Karuta Roromiya, Banri Watanuki, Zange Natsume were all my favorites!
Also as a romance manga, it was sentimental and sweet)) My favorite couples were Soushi&Ririchiyo, Banri&Karuta and Renshou&Nobara))
The hilariously enjoyable dialogues were best of it!
The fantasy side felt like a bit additional and confusing, though.
Anyway, it is best for people who like romance and funny characters with a little dark story)

Ririchiyo is a girl who is born into a noble lifestyle. She gets everything but in the end, she still feels empty. Without having people around her to comfort her, she lives a life where she has to hide her true self. She feels that saying the opposite of what she feels will let her avoid hurting others, including herself. That is until she moves into Maison de Ayakashi, where she is forced to meet Soushi. He is a guy who won't leave her alone, does not care about his image and desperately wants to be a loyal servant. Ever since she met him, she feels that she might not need to be alone anymore.

I watched the anime for this a few days ago and it was amazing. It was creative, funny, interesting and refreshing. It's unfortunate that the author of this series passed away at such a young age, she made such a beautiful series. I am hoping to start this series and catch up to where I was in the anime. I am interested to see where things will go and where the characters will be at in the future.

Ririchiyo is a girl that I have a hard time relating to, but I really like her. She is one of the characters that I really like, even though I feel like we don't have a connection. Soushi is a great character, but he is super possessive and I know nothing about his past. I am hoping to learn more about him as the series goes on. I know a lot about his character in the anime, but I would like to see if it's different in the manga, although I think they followed the manga. Natsume is hilarious and so is the other characters.

The pacing of this manga is perfect, it was slow at parts, but it picked up and it has the right amount of comedy. I can't wait to see where things will go in this manga and I am ready for a new adventure.

I recommend this to everyone, so far I am loving it!

Ooooooh i want my own Soushi <3

I'm so jealous of Miss Riri, she has it all and she doesnt even know it!

The artwork is amazing and does not let the story down at all!

I started reading this series after finishing the anime. By the end i was in tears and absolutly gutted there were no more episodes, therefore i picked up the manga with the decision to continue the magic!

The basic story centers are Ririchiyo Shirakin, she comes from a family line which carries the diluted blood of demons. She moves into Ayakashi Mansion which is an exclusive appartment complex for people in her situation. Each special person gets their own secret service agent, in Ririchiyo's shes partnered with Soushi Miketsukami, her humble dog.

Anyway, this is a beautiful and lovable anime with an awesome twist. I recommend it!!

I had heard a little bit about this series. So far good things. Then I hear there's an anime which also looks good. For the first volume, it is a good start. Looking forward to reading more from series. Art and characters are really good in this.

I first watched the anime adaptation for this manga series and fell in love. Reading this first volume through my library's interlibrary loan system made me remember those feelings, and I'm grateful. The big smile on my face was proof enough.

Inu x Boku SS may seem like nothing but a romantic series from the outside, but there's a little more to it than that. There's a main character with a brutal exterior that vows to change by isolating herself from people, her Secret Service agent that's incredibly devoted to her that's incredibly earnest even if it comes on a little too strong, and a ragtag team of agents and tenants that all live under the same apartment building roof. Add some youkai inclusion, plenty of laughs, and a genuine connection between our two leads, and it makes everything so heartwarming and fun. Everyone is keeping things hidden, everyone is lovable, and everything is simply and undeniably perfect.

But then again, so are Ririchiyo and Soushi (even with the age gap, although I'll have to revisit it to see how I feel about it now).

description

And Zange, for that matter.

description

The art here is also well done, simplistic and expressive at the same time with meticulous attention to character detail. The story is also simple right now, focused on the daily lives of the tenants and on Ririchiyo's growing relationship with her SS agent, Miketsukami (or Soushi), but what's to come is much darker when we get to the latter's past and once we get past what the anime adapted. I honestly can't wait and will read on with passion.

I'd also like to say that I wish Cocoa Fujiwara were still alive, because if she was, I think I'd love her next work just as much. I can't believe it's been more than a year since she passed. RIP, Fujiwara.

I had watched the anime for this series quite some time ago, and when I saw my library had the first volume, I decided to take a look.

Inu x Boku SS is about a half-Ayakashi rich girl, Ririchiyo. She's a socially awkward overconscientious girl who moves out to live on her own. When she's nervous or shy, she says mean things in the moment and agonizes over them later. At various points, she reminded me a lot of Twilight Sparkle from the MLP series, what with her over-planning and trouble making friends.

Ririchiyo ends up meeting a young man, Miketsukami, who becomes her "Secret Service" agent. Basically, a fellow half-Ayakashi meant to be her bodyguard from humans and monsters. He hints at a past with Ririchiyo, but she doesn't know anything about this.

The first volume is largely slice-of-life in the apartment building. Other than Ririchiyo's social awkwardness tying all the stories together, there's not much of a plotline. It's largely an introduction to the eccentric residents of Maison de Ayakashi.

I enjoyed the first volume but for some clunky expositional sections early on. It's mostly just character-driven fun, though there's definitely a dark underbelly to the characters' backstories.

This manga emotionally broke me. (This review is for the whole manga)
I watched the anime of this manga first and continued the manga after. I was really surprised by the further plot in the manga.
The story follows a group of characters who are half youkai and they have some powers that they use to fight off youkais which are attracted to them.
At first this seems like normal rom-com story, but the story takes a pretty dark turn later on.
The part which broke me was when reincarnated Mike still loved reincarnated Riri without any previous memories, but Riri after getting her old memories is so stuck on old Mike that she rejects reincarnated Mike.
Their days of calm is interrupted by the Night Parade, which is an unstoppable cycle led by Inugami (half youkai). They are killed (except Soninozuka) and are reborn.
Riri goes to her ex fiance's home to make sure when Mike is reborn, they help him to take him away from his toxic house (before she dies of heartache). Reborn Mike wants to thank Riri and becomes her (reborn Riri) SS. He loves her as he gets to know her. But he knows that Riri will alz love old Mike. He is envious of old Mike who got to see the love from Riri.
It is later revealed that inu is apparently immortal due to an accident involving Cherry blossom tree Sennenzakura that governs time (shown by Shimon). He wants to be with shimon always and so the time loop was to make sure shimon doesnt die (of old age as well). Shimon was locked up at home since a young age, having to live vicariously through Inugami and was alz hungry for more stories which inu delivered her as corpses (night parade).
Inu befriends Watanuki and at last fight he is deterred by Watanuki's presence and is killed. At last, the residents and their SS are together at the end, after they all stop the Hyakkiyaku.

I really liked it.

The heroin was fun to read about.

Although she does resemble Rahzel (I loved her with her snappy retorts!) she has her own faults. I liked that.

*I have been trying to upload actual manga pages with my favorite moments and quotes. There are many but I don't how to do that.**sourly regrets*

The one star that I took off was for the fact that the plot moved slowly.

Otherwise....

READ IT

Already seen the anime, when I found out it was also a manga I HAD to read it.
Ririchiyo is a recluse with low self esteem if any and she puts on a tough front to guard herself, but then ends up being upset every time she hurts someones feelings.
In comes Soushi, who is so adorable and too nice to be mean to, even for Ririchiyo. He states she saved him long ago with no specific reason, and it seems he just might save her too in his own way. Very cute and sweet and ahhh <3

Its a good read. The art style is really nice and the characters are cute. I've only read this first one but I really like it so far so I think the series as a whole will be good.

Review for Full Series

This series was surprisingly intriguing and I loved the different timelines/reincarnating plot aspects. I even enjoyed the cast of characters and enjoyed all the short "interlude" stories. However it felt like this series was trying to be too many genres at once sometimes. The comedy and drama swotched back and forth so fast it gave me whiplash. It didn't balance the two, they just sort of interrupted each other.

I was also not a huge fan of the fan service bits. They seemed tasteless and a bit disturbing sometimes.

Even so it was definitely an page-turner and the ending left me smiling.

This series is rated Older Teen for language and violence though for know I am not exactly sure why since I have seen more violence in other books(although there is some mature humor.) Don't be disheartened if mature humor bothers you since the worse of it is from one of the Secret service females who is very open with her views of Smexiness.

Ririchiyo is a 10th grade girl who wants to live on her own. Her family who are rich by the way agree but only if she goes to an apartment complex complete with secret service to aid and protect their clients. What more each person in the building including Ririchiyo have a unique family secret that makes the community more then convenient but also important. One thing I like about this book series so far is how the characters quickly begin making bonds. No matter what weaknesses each person has the others are already beginning to help compensate.

It was hard to decide my favorite part of the book but I finally decided to go with the time some thugs tried to rob Ririchiyo and find out the secret of the Maison de Ayakashi. If you want to find out (unless it is in the description of this book lol) then you will have to read and hopefully enjoy. :)

Everyone has their problems, but for Ririchiyo, it seems to be insurmountable. She has a sharp tongue, which she uses to lash out at others when she really doesn't mean to be mean. Ririchiyo cultivated this outward personality in order to protect herself, but it has come with a price because she doesn't know how to make friends. Seeking independence from her family (and with a hope to learn to control her verbal barbs), she has moved away to an elite apartment building with some secrets of its own.

I was first introduced to Inu x Boku SS via the anime a year or so back, and while the anime was a bit of a mess, I fell in love with the characters. Ririchiyo, in particular, was someone I wanted to see grow and learn how to get along with other people. And while Soushi may tend to err on the side of a dog (hence the title - inu: dog) groveling at her feet, he has his own story that explains the reasons behind his idolization of Ririchiyo.

I've been curious to read this story, so thank you to Yen Press for bringing it to us. I'm looking forward to the next volume to see how the manga develops as opposed to the anime.

Souishi's devotion to Ririchiyo is unnerving; it's unconditional and is from the start OTT and leaves you wondering what on earth she did to deserve such devotion? She wonders the same thing and doesn't take his kindness for granted.
This is a new manga for me and I watched the manga before reading it. When I found out that the manga continues and the anime was wrapped up just before the manga could develop in plot and we could see the character's pasts come out to affect the present.
If you're into the whole shojo scene with an absolute hero with a strong female lead with a few flaws (as usual) then you will enjoy this fantasy romance.

My rating and review is of the whole series, not single volumes. The story is very romantic and sweet, but also very sad. It is not a comedy like I thought it would be (it is labelled a romantic comedy), but a drama - at least the second half is a drama, the first part or at least the first third is a romantic comedy.
A few things could have been more detailed and a few aspects lacked depth, alas, quite a few things could have been better and just more throughout. However, I still really enjoyed it! Be warned the plot might be confusing in the middle but it will make sense at the end.

I saw the anime of this series and thought it was really good so I decided to try the manga series as well. I thought this volume was really fun and I love all the characters so far. This volume connects with the first four episodes of the anime series. I look forward to reading more of the manga and seeing how it differs from the anime as well as getting to know all the characters better.

Contains Chapters 1 - 4
Chapter 1: The Dog and I
Chapter 2: The Lonesome Dog
Chapter 3: The Real Contract
Chapter 4: Ayakashi Hall Walk Rally

I'm tempted to give this more than four stars for the potential, but I'll hold back until I see further proof of awesomeness. Very enjoyable manga. I'm too suspicious of Soushi, though. I don't know, in the first chapter I had this one single moment where I wondered whether she was Tsundere and he some mild form of Yandere, and since then, I'm always questioning everything he does. /sigh (Doesn't matter that people tell me he's trustworthy and all. ARGH.)

Solid 4 stars. There's not a clear plot line at the minute but I definitely want to read the next one to see how the story progresses. Also, I'm sad to say I spoiled the ending by accident for myself... I won't spoil it for you though. Just don't watch any clips from the anime series on YouTube because they are full of them!
I love the detailed clothing and the outfits that Ririchiyo wears are so cute! ^_^

This manga was a wild ride. With there ability to be reborn I was confused at times in which if knew the characters I was reading about or if they were newly born. But i still loved this manga. It was very unique and fun. The relationship between everyone made my heart swell. Them being different from humans and finding solace in each other was beautiful to see. And plus plenty of heartbreak and anger which is apparently my kryptonite.

It pains me reading this (like it had when I watched the anime), because it's frightening how alike Ririchiyo and I are. Seriously. The only difference is that I don't have a Miketsukami. So, needless to say, I'm jealous. And plus, she gets to be around people like Natsume and Karuta, which I'm also jealous about because, let's face it, they are amazing.

The plot is pretty good so far, but not much happened in the series yet. It was mostly just introductions and Ririchiyo having to adapt to her new situation. Still, it's good enough where I'm glad I own book 2. I'm looking forward to it. :).

This was super cute and quirky but it pandered a little too much to the fanservice side towards the beginning of the manga but the later chapters were better and I could see the plot starting. I am certainly intrigued by this series and I will be picking up Vol. 2 soon :)
